I agree on the theory. For example, we do experience educated birds, the ducks in NC act differently than the birds in Canada, before they have gotten shot all the way down the flyway!
I can see this if hunters are pursuing alternative methods. Trapping pigs is supposed to be much more...
Swiped this off the web in case recoil is a consideration. Note these are averages...

270 Win with 130 grain bullets is perfect, and I have used it for elk and bear as well (you can move up to 150 grain bullets if desired). This caliber has some staying power, unlike some of the "fad" calibers for which ammo may not be available in a few years. Lighter recoil than many, but...
I've killed several with 270 Win in 130 grain, same as I use for deer. Pigs are terribly destructive on the habitat.
They are good to eat, but pick a sow up to about 125 lbs. Boars we fed to the gators.
I will say shooting pigs is the only time I wished I had a semi-auto instead of a bolt...
Wife, son and I went from sea level to elk camp at 11,400' same day, and even managed an evening stalk. Stayed in a sweet little cabin with propane heat. About midnight my wife woke up feeling sick, we walked outside and she blacked out. Son and I got her back inside but for the next couple of...
Some manufacturers offer a sub-MOA guarantee - Sako, Tikka, TC, Vanguard. I know nothing about guns, and my Sako A7 in 270 Win shot .25 groups out of the box with Federal Fusion and Federal Premium factory ammo. Plenty good enough for my needs :D. Enough gun for any NA game except self-defense...
Why carry the weight of a 25 rd mag when you won't need more than one bullet to hunt, and won't have time/need for more than 10 in the event of an animal attack?
