I have bedded them both ways...some with a 1" barrel pad and some without- so I don't really think it will do anything if you remove it. Have you talked to the smith that built it? I would pick his brain on it first....

There isn't any reason why you shouldn't be able to get the 208 to shoot better...sounds like you just need to do a bit more "tuning" with it. It will definitely out perforn the 168 at distances past 800.

Been using it in 6mm and 6.5 mm x 47s, pretty much interchangeable with H4350 loads (actually was able to go a bit higher with 17) Gave me about 100 fps faster velocities, so I would say it would work great in the 260 with the 140's...

Anther method would be give Lonnie Hummel at Hornady a call and get a hydraulic forming die for it...then you'll have fully formed cases without anything down your barrel.

I shoot the 175s out of a 1-9 twist in a 7-08. With 7 RUM velocities a 10 twist will stabilize the 175.

Re: 7mm 168 smk. Who\'s used this on elk sized game? John Burns needs to update his website.....he uses a Bergers now....they are one of his sponsors....plus I have spoken with him about them....he uses the 180gr Berger, not the 168.
