    Recommend cantilever Scope Mount, please

it looks like you found a good solution. I'll throw out my 2 cents anyway from the Service Rifle competition experience. We pretty much all need cantilevered mounts because of our head positions. Many of the standards like Geiselle and Nightforce put the scope centerline at around 1.3" above...

    Trigger for BLR

Awww crap (wiping egg off my face)!… I guess I better pull those 88’s out of the safe and give them some attention!

    Trigger for BLR

If you mean the 88’s trigger follows the lever when you cycle the lever, that’s NOT correct. The 88’s trigger does NOT follow the lever.

    Trigger for BLR

There are alarms going off in my head. The BLR is a hunting gun. If you’re planning to go against the grain and turn it into a bench gun…then carry on and have at it. But if you’re planning to hunt it with a “super light” trigger, I’d strongly recommend against that. We might be differing on...

    New Build: 6.5-300 Weatherby

Hey!...fun discussion. You're right, the statement lacks scientific rigor, but in an observational sense, poring through different manuals, you'll see a definite trend. I had half a thought to put the statement to the test (I am set up to do strain pressure measurements), but the confounders...

    Best pack for mountain hunting

An event like that would have saved me a ton of money…just remember to BYOS (bring your own sandbag) and see if the vendors will let you walk around with the loaded pack for at least an hour.

    New Build: 6.5-300 Weatherby

Lee7588, I have apologize…I made a typo that changed the meaning of my last post entirely (the joys of posting using a phone) It should read; I’ll see if I can still go in and edit. The Hodgdon online manual lists pressures at the min and max charges.

    New Build: 6.5-300 Weatherby

Yes, but the principle applies. For a given case capacity, and a given pressure, the bigger bore achieves higher velocities with the same weight bullet. Grab a reloading manual and compare the 260, 7-08 and 308 at 50kpsi with 150's. You'll see a definite trend. You can use the principle to...

    Best pack for mountain hunting

    Here's the 2023 comparison on Rokslide; https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/2023-head-to-head-backpack-test-part-1-rokslide.328728/ I personally find on the whole, the folk on RokSlide are pretty knowledgeable about packs. Video rear world follow up to the 2020 review;

    Best pack for mountain hunting

A lot of folk love this pack as a daypack. I really wanted mine to work, but in the end, the hip belt just dug in the wrong places. Here's the Rokslide review from 2020. https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/backpack-shootout-9-backpacks-go-head-to-head-updated-8-5-2020.172763/

    Best pack for mountain hunting

There’s a couple of really good pack reviews on Rokslide where they discuss most of the packs discussed in this thread …well…maybe not the Badlands. I’ll see if I can link it here.

…and I would love to try an Exo…but as you can probably tell, I’m pretty fat for packs. There’s also not a lot of wanting for better in my stable…but if you want to send one to me, I’ll be happy to run it and give you my impressions.
