    Too Heavy or not?

8lb all up. I spend more time hating carrying a heavy gun, than I do hating the recoil :D

    Which 6.5 chambering

Nosler is generally excellent. He's on a short action, so unlikely 6.5 284 will fit I would go 6.5 Creedmoor, unless you're wildly attached to Lapua brass for some reason - then go .260

I forgot to note, total rifle (as seen above) comes in at 8lb on the dot.

I spose I can probably skip ahead a little bit now, got a few new bits back - shortened barrel, DPT, fluted bolt and unnecessarily expensive trigger guard. I ended up rushing the last bit of sanding on the epoxy, but I'm confident I can re-finish it pretty well. I've already got a big...

    Barrel length 6.5x 284

I'd go even shorter - just taken my 6.5x55 down to 20". A few FPS isn't going to make that much difference.

Bit of catching up to do here - mostly recovering from my catastrophically dumb mistake. If you missed it, there's the perfect amount of clearance to cycle the bolt, but not enough to remove it! It's pretty embarrassing, but that's what prototypes are for. First step is to chop out the...

Noted. I'll try taping an old sling on in several spots and see how it hangs before I go drilling anything.

I had planned on placing them at these locations (though on the non-bolt side): Are you suggesting these should be higher at the rear?

I'm not sure about machine time I'm afraid - I would guess around 2 hours per side, but it depends a lot on the feeds & speeds he was using. I think there were concerns about the timber chipping out so that might have forced him to feed slower. The glue up is pretty straightforward - can...

For the P2 prototype I made an insert inside the stock around the sling stud area, because it broke out in P1. Unfortunately I rushed, really and it's poking through a little bit, but that's an easy fix for P3: Test fitting of the action went pretty well - because of the large step size I...

I'm an industrial designer for an appliance company, so we have a decent shop. I'd love to see some pictures of your set-up, if that's possible? Specifically how many cavities/forms you use for molds, and how you stick them together! Foreign, good to see you - all the rendering is done...

Fitted the dowels, finished the bulk of the inletting (I thought) and sealed the inside: Gluing the two halves together, always a bit scary:

Your stocks are really nice! I was surprised at how little difference there was with carbon stocks when I started removing volume from the timber design. The expense and difficulty of working with carbon was a real turn-off for me, but perhaps in the future there is an opportunity to have a go -...
