I hope this helps with any reservations regardings the tiny 25-06 bullet. My nephew took this doe a couple years ago on a youth hunt using a 25-06 with a Berger 115 gr VLD.

I was in the same boat with my hand me down 1970's savage youth 30-06 that kicked like a mule. If I could do it all over again I would go with the 131 blackjack .257 bullet and put a vias break on it. I re-chambered my 30-06 to a 25-06 with a vias break and it produces .3 MOA and has recoil...

I personally feel its more about marksmanship than the size of the round. I have laid enough game to rest with a .243 and 25-06 to have full faith with proper placement it always works efficiently. I just cant seem to enjoy or shoot the heavy recoil rounds as good so my confidence is in 6mm...

Can you tell much difference in recoil?

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been following the 131 blackjack and trying to figure out if it has any advantage over the 6.5’s. I’m guessing it would take the the 26 nosler with a lot more recoil to get those 156 EOL’ to open the gap.

Thanks Riflehunter! I am interested in the pros and cons of AI. Best rifling for the 6.5 and load development. I am leaning toward the 140 berger.

What all is involved with case prep on the Sherman? I have heard a lot of good things about the Sherman as well but was worried about the case prep because I am still cutting my teeth on the reloading bench.
