Can you identify this gun manufacturer ?

My ex father in law brought one (confiscated from a house in Austria) home at WWII’s end, a gorgeous piece with gold rings, game scenes and gold initials in 2x 16 Ga over a 7.65x something rimmed. The horn trigger guard was similar and receiver engraved by maker E. Collath. If not maker marked...

    NOS X Bolt 6.5x55

I was lucky enough to find a NOS Browning XBolt in 6.5x55 the other day after I was outbid on a very nice Colt New Service and just started browsing. Good price with a hard case. Anyhow, I've had a Swede 1894 for nearly 60 years and love it dearly but know the 1914 model shouldn't be pumped...

Improving ES in 300 WM is it just powder selection

Improving ES in 300 WM is it just powder selection

I also think your powders have been too fast burning, I was lucky, tried a short ladder test using IMR 4831, CCI 200's and picked 69.0 grains that gives one hole 100 yd groups with 180 TTSX's and avg 3086 fps with a SEVEN fps extreme spread out of my HSP Gen 1 rifle with 26" barrel.

How many rounds do you have in your pack?

I carry two 3 round HS Precision 300 win mag mags in a WWII M1 carbine mag pouch front and center on my belt: they fit perfectly. Those two plus a loaded mag in the rifle and a single round in my shirt pocket, loaded when on foot, give me a grand total of 10. Maybe if I was on foot and spike...

    California - Copper

Actually I have a stash of CCI 200's that I use for everything. Get the accuracy and velo's I want in my -06 (Win M70 SG) and 300WM(HSP) with them and IMR4350 and 4831 powders. And, it's hard for me to hold any tighter than the one hole 100 yd groups both give me with 180 Barnes TTSX's. I may...

    California - Copper

My HS Precision 300 WM shoots Barnes TTSX 180's three in one hole a 100 yards seated 50 thou off the lands pushed by IMR4831 to 3,100 fps using standard primers and Lee FCD light crimp. 50 thou was my first try and I haven't had to make any changes except for powder charge. This with the...

Decent boot for an elk hunt

I use an old pair of Rockies that work really well and the toes are small enough to slip in and out of stirrups nicely, I don't recall the level of insulation but since the early 90's on late Sept Wyoming Wilderness hunts I've yet to be cold, WET yes but never cold. one thing to be sure to buy...

    HSPrecision magazines

Thanks for the thought but I know of no states restricting five shot mags.

    HSPrecision magazines

I hope to be drawn for another Wyoming wilderness area hunt this year. We've almost always seen or even had grizzlies close, had a sow and cubs try to take a bull from me and guide a couple of trips ago when we saw griz every day and had to fire a couple of "stay away shots". My new HS...

I need advice on my elk hunting

Since you have almost private land and the only predators in Colorado would be you the elk have it pretty good. Get yourself a good geological survey map with al the contour lines on it, learn how to read it and find places that have water, meadows and overlooking points with cover for bedding...
