RCBS, Hornady, Redding, or Forster Dies

I have read many people favoring the Redding type S (with bushing) FL Sizer for shoulder bumps and the Forster Ultra Micro Seater die. I love the Redding type S dies but have only used those on rifle reloading so no experience with others (except for pistol). I bought another Redding type S...

Shorter barreled rifles and un-burnt powder

I do know it is a 6.5 and that there are factory loads for it but there are waaayyy more options in 6.5 CM. Midway shows 24 options for .260 and 82 for 6.5 CM. I should have been more specific in explaining my reasoning. When I said I wanted to stay in 6.5 I was referring to vs. the 7mm-08 I...

Shorter barreled rifles and un-burnt powder

Had a few busy days but getting back to this. So at first folks noted to stay away from the 6.5 PRC 16" flamethrower and the suggestions I received were 260, 6.5 CM and 7mm-08 mostly. The 260 would have been great but I didn't want to reload for this and since I wanted to stay in 6.5mm it...

One binocular to rule the mountains

Swarovski 15x56 but I live in AZ and those coues deer blend in very well. I've had a spotter in the past but don't currently use one. I carry 8x binos on my chest for quick looks and the 15x56 stay in my pack and I break them out with the tripod.

Shorter barreled rifles and un-burnt powder

I just looked at: .260 Berger match grade 140gr at 2,789 vs 6.5 PRC Hornady Precision hunter 143gr @ 2,960. So a difference of 171 fps. I'm sure there are differences all over the board with handloading (which I've done) but for this purpose I used factory ammo info. Maybe I was wrong in...

Shorter barreled rifles and un-burnt powder

Soooo...if I went with a 16" .260 over the 16" 6.5 PRC it appears I would loose about 170fps (at140gr). Not insignificant but is the trade-off of more efficient powder burn worth it? What else am I giving up ?

Shorter barreled rifles and un-burnt powder

I absolutely appreciate the input on the action portion of the decision (and I'm serious, it is helpful) but let's assume I have the action in hand. What is your input on if I'm missing anything here if I went with a 16" .260 over the 16" 6.5 PRC? It appears I would loose about 170fps with a...
