    6.5-284 in a short action

Yeah I see what you mean on the bolt face. The 264 I have now is a semi custom and its nearing the end of its life, 800 rounds. Probably be further ahead just to go that route again and go with a full custom 6.5 GAP if I want one and build it as light as possible for a back pack gun. The 6.5x284...

    6.5-284 in a short action

, I'm looking at having to re barrel my 264 to 6.5x284, wish I had the short action and the decision would be what I really want, a 6.5 gap. More speed, lower pressures, longer barrel life, still performs well in a 25 inch barrel. I would take a hard look at a 6.5 saum or gap, same thing. Made...

28 Nosler 195 Berger vs. New 180 ELDM

Yep, more or less the plan. Probably hold off on the eldm and see how the 195s do with the RE33 and Retumbo, I'm sure they will do very well as all of Ryan's builds have. Also sit with fingers cross and hope a 180+ grn ELDx surfaces.

28 Nosler 195 Berger vs. New 180 ELDM

Yep. 1:8 is what I have coming. Reason I bring this up is I really would prefer to run Retumbo (temp stability) vs the RE33. Here are my thoughts. Everyone knows that the RE33 produces the very best velocity and great accuracy. We all know the 195 running 3140 with RE33 with the throat...

28 Nosler 195 Berger vs. New 180 ELDM

I'm in the middle of building a 28 Nosler and its being throated for the 195 Berger. Just ran a few numbers and it sure looks like the new 180 ELDM just might give the Berger a run for its money as far as on a ballistics calculator. Berger being 3140 with RE33 and the 180 being ?3200fps? with...

    Best Elk Bullet

Personally I am a Berger and now ELDX guy. But most all of my shots on elk are in open type country and at some sort of range, 200 plus yards, out to 800+. Depending on what 30 cal you are shooting I would get some heavy for Cartrage not Caliber Nosler Accubonds. Original Accubonds. Lets say...

    Barometer on Android

Just figured this out myself. Thanks. Looked into the settings on my Kyocera Brigidaire and I see that you can select pressure,inHg, mmHg, mb, and hPa. I have it set to Pressure should should be good to go. This is most likely why I was getting funky results here and there using the basic...

    Barometer on Android

Getting ready to set my Sig 2400 up and start verifying drops. Is the displayed barometric pressure on a smart phone corrected (I'm assuming so) or is it actually station pressure (un-corrected). In other words do I need to enter both the displayed barometric pressure, temperature, and elevation...

    28 nosler

This is excellent news. I will surely be testing me some Retumbo. Looks like 100fps less velocity at best vs. RE33 as long as I can find solid accuracy I will be very happy knowing Im running a stable powder. Still a long range hammer.

    28 nosler

From a manageable recoil stand point I can sure see a valid point, though somewhat of a waist of caliber potential. After all when a critter is laying down dead in the dirt its hard to wish you killed them even deader. Anyway back on track a bit. I emailed Berger last night about load data...

    28 nosler

Yeah 195's or maybe a 180 grain for me in the 28 Nosler as mine is being throated for the 195. Anything lighter with a properly thought out over-bore gun is a waist of chaimbering and un-burnt powder if you ask me. Never could understand why people would insist on getting the hottest cartridge...

    28 nosler

I got what your saying, and sure hope to not ever have the need to shoot in anything in excess of 80 deg. For the most part I do most all of my load development and range verification between at no more than 50 deg. and try to keep it around 30 so things are as close to a day of typical hunting...

    28 nosler

From what I have read the RE33 is quite a bit different from other Alliant powders. Not nearly as temp sensitive as others. Time will tell as I shoot from 90 above to -15 so if it ends up to extreme I will run the Retumbo myself. I was hoping that Retumbo would be the best powder as I have 12#s...
