I'd guess most go to a local indoor range, zero at the 100yd max, then figure they're good to 600. I had a 300 yard outdoor range where I lived in TX and would spend a few hours every evening shooting 2-300. It's quite difference with a 6#, short barrel 308.
The really sad part is they're...
There's an area of ABQ affectionately called 'the warzone'. I wonder what steps she will take to clean that up?
Why is Albuquerque called the war zone?
However, the neighborhood also attracted a significant amount of criminal activity, which led to its notoriety as the "War Zone" by the late...
Meanwhile, the fentanyl flowing over her southern border is killing more children than the black plague. Can't do anything about that because she and Jerry Nadler need their cheap immigrant labor (which Nadler calls 'human infrastructure').
They're both lousy and corrupt humans who have broken...
I'll also say SEVR..it's the only mech I will use on game larger than whitetail deer. They also have one 'supposedly' optimized for crossbows. Like others have stated, your standard crossbows are now around 400fps, more than enough energy to open a mech BH on contact. I think a lot of the...
Hunted Starr, Webb and Duval counties down in south TX for 20 years.. some weird stuff happened during that time. They would tell me to sleep with my sidearm under a pillow with my truck keys because someone could rob me while I slept in the trailer. Dead humans etc. Probably 10x worse now.
I think a better title would be 'do I need a magnum under 600' for any 'game on planet earth', and no, you don't. If you want to pack a 8lb+ heavy scoped rifle around the backcountry then go for it. Then again I realize this is a long range hunting site :)
A super lightweight 260 would do the...
I sometimes wish I'd purchased my little kimber adirondack in 708 rather than 308 but with modern off the shelf ammunition it really doesn't matter anymore. I can run 130-200gr out of it depending on range and application.
Personally I spend all my money on world class binos then less (if razor HD is less) on a spotter. After using Zeiss HD (not ED) and Swarovski everything else makes me cross eyed with the massive chromatic aberration and lack of edge focus.
Not telling you to go rob a bank but if you did, this...
I have both swarovski 10x42 and 10x25 (the little pocket ones). Amazingly enough, the little 10x25's get used much more than the larger ones. They even gather almost as much light as the big ones at dusk so I take little pocket ones on every trip. The FOV isn't quite as good as the larger ones...
No, just lived and hunted in TX for 12 years. Now I actually have to work for it lol. I miss easily filling all my whitetail tags each year to be honest. I could eat venison every week back then.
