    what twist?

Seems that Remington uses 10" on the lighter barrels and 12" on the heavier barrels. I'm not sure what their thought process on this is but in reality the 11.25 will stabilize anything that you would ever shoot out of a .308 including the very long 208 grain bullets. The 1 in 10" twist is more...

    what twist?

The 175 smk is 1.24 inches long. At a muzzle velocity of 2600 fps and a twist rate of 1 in 12" that calculates out to a Miller stability factor of 1.67 which is well above the minimum recommended 1.3. Basically, either barrel will stabilize them just fine.

    Amax verses Berger

Thanks Nimrod, I will be purchasing a box of 139 sst's for my 7-30 waters tomorrow and will probably not be able to resist shooting a few through the 7 mag just to see how they do. I just wish Hornady made a 139 Amax. but oh well. It is what it is....

    Amax verses Berger

162 amax gets 71.5 grains of Retumbo and the 168 grain Bergers are getting 73 grains of Retumbo. I've tried RL-22 and H4831SC but get the tightest groups with Retumbo. Been through almost 6 lbs of Retumbo since February with this rifle and it just loves it for whatever reason. I typically take...

    Amax verses Berger

It's funny you mention going to a heavier and slower bullet because I just told told my shooting partner today that I was strongly considering trying a box of the 180 grain Bergers when I finished up the amaxs I already have. The only reason I have not already tried them is because I'm concerned...

    Amax verses Berger

I've been working on a hunting load for this fall's whitetail season and would like to get yall's opinion. Rifle: Remington 700, 26 inch Barrel Caliber: 7mm Remington Magnum I have developed two different loads that both I and the rifle seem to like but can't seem to make up my mind as...
