    Mandrel as last step?

Just more data to add… I tested several groups at 300 yards several years ago between sizing with bushing dies only vs sizing with a honed die and then using a mandrel before seating. This was with my 6.5x47. The groups sized with a mandrel were smaller on average. Not by much (maybe 20%...

    308 Win vs 6.5 Creedmoor

Reloder 17 with Berger 210 VLD hunters make a great combo in the 308 if you want to experiment with heavies and don’t mind single feeding. I use 47.7 grains loaded to 2.932” and get a hair under 2700 out of a 26” 10 twist Mullerworks barrel and Lapua brass. Very accurate with low SD’s, but more...

    Suppressor Recomendations & Help

I use an Ultra 7, a Dominus, and an R30K, all great cans for their design intent, built by reputable companies that I trust will be around for a long time. If I was buying a can for a 300 RUM, my first choice would be a TBAC Magnus, followed by either a Dead Air Nomad LTi and the KGM R30XL...

Using small rifle primers or larger rifle magnum primers in 308 win

I have used small rifle primers in my 308 srp Peterson cases with good results down to 30 degrees or so, with no ignition issues. Also have used magnum primers in my 308. Seems like the 308 works with a wide range of components, powders included. Wolffo if your pockets are loose it might be...

123 eld-m on deer, anyone use them?

I shot one doe in the backyard with the 123 ELD-M using my 6.5x47. Range was around 80 yards or so. Muzzle velocity is 2950ish. Deer made it about 20 yards and dropped. Massive damage inside the chest cavity.

mandrel for case necks...can somebody please explain

Not sure how to properly word this question, so bear with me. When you guys use mandrels to set the neck tension, are they stand alone mandrels, like the old Sinclair mandrel dies that contain a mandrel that’s inserted into the top of the die, like what is used prior to neck turning? Or are you...

    Where to start with suppressors?

That’s odd on the Dominus, because it has a shorter barrel rating for most other calibers vs the Ultra series. But it’s listed that way on their website 🤷‍♂️

    Where to start with suppressors?

I second the Dominus, but would also recommend the Ultra 7 due to it being a bit lower profile.

    Waterproof Hunting Pants

Whatever brand you decide on, try to make sure that’s it’s made with GoreTex. The seam tape is what usually fails first (due to delamination) and GoreTex seam tape just lasts so much longer than anything else out there. Also anything made with GoreTex has to pass rigorous inspection by GoreTex...

    SFP vs FFP for hunting

I have not. I’ve never given much thought to the SWFA line, although I have heard good things about them. I’ll check them out.

    Bug Holes/Southern Precision Rifles

Greg has done two rifles for me. He was recommended by Terry Cross when I reached out to him about finding a local smith several years ago. I visited his place twice and knew I could trust him after speaking with him, and I have been extremely happy with his work. He’s good people.

    Hammer performance on coyotes

I have, using a 130 Shock Hammer (I was deer hunting at the time). The dog spun quickly in place twice and went down for good. Massive damage, hit him right around the shoulder broadside and he had another exit hole in his gut. I’m guessing one of the fragments tore through him perpendicularly...

    Ar Pistol or SBR

I got one a while back in 300 BLK. It’s still technically a pistol. I’ve coyote hunted with it a few times but no luck so far. But it’s a fun little gun in its own right and surprisingly accurate. Plus my wife enjoys shooting it so it was a good purchase. I added an AGB to help tame the blowback...
