I agree, I have been killing black tail deer in California with my Rem 700, .243, for 40 years, and haven't lost one yet.

Barnes-Vor tx, Nosler, and Hornady, and Federal all make copper ammunition that is lead-free and legal in California. I personally use the VOR TX by Barnes in all my hunting rifles because I like the way they perform on Deer and Hogs.

I have been using Barnes TTSX and TSX in California and out of state to, and they work great on Deer and ELK. I use RL22, Federal primers and Winchester or Lupua brass. I get my loadings out off the Barnes reloading manual #4.
