    25-06…. Barnes 100gr TTSX Vs Hornady 110gr ELD-X

This is a timely post since I just worked up a load for my 25-06 with the LRX bullet. I bought a box of ELDX 110 to see how they shoot. First: the LRX using Retumbo has given me an average of .8 over a 21 shot, 3 at a time plus cool down, string. I use Barnes exclusively in all my hunting rifles...

    Bullet weight for 300 RUM

I shoot a Remington RUM still wearing the factory stock (I free floated it) and a Timney trigger topped with a vortex 5x25x56. I’m shooting 168 TTSX hand loads ant 3445 fps and consistently get .5 MOA. The farthest Elk I’ve taken so far is 760 yards. That bullet hit so hard the Elk tipped over...

7mm-08 Bullet Choice for Stone Sheep inside of 500 yards

It’s been said a bunch already in this thread. Read a few of my responses with the 7-08 and Barnes in other posts. I’ve been loading Barnes for a long time now (20 years or better) and I can tell you the 120’s will flat work. I wouldn’t be hesitate to step up to the 145 LRX either. My wife’s...

SEEKINS PRECISION - 2 THUMBS UP

The heart is nothing to mess with. I’m happy you had it repaired. Too bad it’s not as simple as swapping a barrel, action, or stock. I was really wanting a Seeking but now that they don’t build for individuals anymore I’m concerned their QC will fall off. When you get out to shoot you rifle will...

165 Grain SSTs on Deer Sized Game

I just returned from Africa in May. I used a guides gun while I was there. The gun was a Howa 308 shooting 165 SSTs. I took a Kudu, gemsbok, Impala, Blesbuck, and spring buck. No issues ranges were between 300 to 500 yards.

Anyone need some 6.5PRC Lapua brass?

No cool stories for me. I bought an6.5 PRC two years ago and started with two boxes of Hornady 147’s. After break in I started loading those pieces of brass. I am down to 7 pieces now. I was able to find a box of 147’s last year. I loaded those up with a go to load for deer and put them away...

Nevada 71-79 Mule Deer Late Tag

I often found smoker bucks out in the brush. Everybody went high into O’Neil basin and the wilderness area and passed up the brushy draws. There is a creek past the pole creek guard station that flows down to the Jarbridge river. It flows through a deep canyon (I want to say it’s called Johnson...

Nevada 71-79 Mule Deer Late Tag

Rub it in Sir! 😉 I have been trying to get that tag for several years now (I’m still trying) I use to Buckaroo for CE Bracket Cattle below pole creek there. I’ve seen some great bucks in that country. Good luck and post some pictures of your deer when you get it please.

Building an Elk Load - 7mm08

Barnes 145 LRX with RL-17 and CCI 200’s got me 2900 fps (average) from a 22 inch barrel. It’s worked great on elk so far.
