No experience with either of those rings/bases. I've always used Seekins hardware. If you have had good luck with what your using or like the way another brand looks on your rifle go with it. I have no doubt both Farrell and Near have quality hardware.

If you dont want a muzzle brake on for hunting, just pull it off and screw on a thread protector. A brake for target/practice shooting can prevent some bad habits. JMO

Does Mcmillan, Kelbys or anyone else still offer a rear grip, fiberglass target style pistol stock blank?

I recieved a new barrel blank a few yrs back from a very respected barrel company.First thing I did was run the borescope down it (do it with all of them)and found excessive tool marking.Contacted them,got the OK to send it back and recieved a new one in two days with an apology that it even...

Nothing you shoot at 1000 yds or under is going to notice the BC difference anyway.

Should work in a bolt gun fine.Its basically a glorified 243 with a 30 degree shoulder.Brass life shouldnt be a problem,its going to be a custom chamber anyway.Im with MontanaRifleman though,a 6.5X284 is what Id choose for a 6.5 if I was after one.
