    Picking out a 6.5 cartridge

As HuntnPack mentioned the 6.5x284 is a pretty incredible package. 140gr VLD Hunters over Retumbo with Lapua Brass has been an excellent choice in Alberta for me. I’ve killed multiple moose, big Alberta Whitetail bucks and a bunch of bears all with one shot success. The one draw back is perhaps...

    Thinking about a 6.5x284

Running 140 gr. VLD Hunters at 2960 with Retumbo and a 24” barrel. Accuracy is incredible, easy to load for and Lapua Brass is tough to beat. I’ve killed numerous moose, whitetails and bears in Canada with a 6.5x284 in the last 10 years and it has become the rifle I grab first over 300 Win and...

    Bushing Die Guys please read

You don’t want the bushing to run the entire span of the neck, you will create donut issues. When you tighten down your die you want to hear the bushing moving ever so slightly. Perhap back off a 1/16th or so.

    March scopes

Running 2 March 5-50’s on a 7LRM and 6.5x284, love them both. Just purchased a 2.5-25 last week for a light weight build, they are superb. I have a friend who owns 3 or 4 of them and he’s a great testing ground, runs them hard and often and he’s not seen any failure. When they do catch on in...

Need technical input: rifle project based on 7LRM cartridge necked to .277

Just a quick plug for the 7LRM... I had Dallas Lane build a 7LRM for me and it shoots 180 grain Berger’s lights out. I’m not running it too hot, only 3000 FPS with H1000 to conserve some barrel life but it didn’t show pressure up to 3140 FPS so you could run it pretty quick if one wanted...

    7mm lrm

Lane Precision built a 7LRM for me a couple of years ago and I couldn’t be more happy. I have killed numerous bears with it on a trapline from fairly close ranges, 18 yards, using 180gr Berger Hybrids and they work just as well at that distance as they do at 800-900 yards. Less recoil than a 300...

Talk me out of getting Swarovski EL 10x42’s

Having both the Swarovski El 10x42’s and Leicas HDBs I would recommend the Leicas. The glass is excellent in both but I like my Leicas so much I look forward to looking through them and they amaze me every time I look through them.

    300 Win Mag, 4831SC or H1000 and Berger 200.20x

I do have a pile of H1000 and will most certainly give it a go, appreciate the guidance. I am much more concerned with accuracy as realistically my longest shots with this rifle while hunting will be 600 yards, placement trumps horsepower here. I do a fair amount of practice to 1200 yards with...

    300 Win Mag, 4831SC or H1000 and Berger 200.20x

I had been running Berger VLD's in 190's with 4831sc and was pushing about 2860 which I consider babying the barrel but I was thinking if I pushed it a bit, depending on what the barrel likes of course, I could stay around 2830-2860 pretty safely. Our cost on barrels and components in Canada is...

    300 Win Mag, 4831SC or H1000 and Berger 200.20x

Good afternoon fellow re-loaders! Just getting ready to load up some Berger 200.20x's for a 300 Win Mag with a 26" barrel and was wondering if anyone has some speed ranges or load data they would share. I am looking to run 4831SC or H1000 as I have had great success in the past with them both...

    7 LRM load data

I would say that the load was part of the equation, the fact that Dallas built the gun is the larger factor!
