Broz, you actually inspired me to build a .300 Win Mag after seeing your results on SH. I took a Broughton 5c finished at 30" and throated it for the 230's and 215's.
It is truely an awesome rifle. I'm running the 230 Hybrids at 2975 fps... And they bug hole.
But what's really impressive is...
I've killed 4 does since Thanksgiving with Berger 140 hybrids out to 325 yards out my 6.5 creedmor. NONE have taken a step. Here's a doe I shot yesterday at 235 with the 140 hybrid..
So the hybrids work VERY WELL
If this helps.... I shoot both the 215 and 230 OTM out of my .300 win mag. For the 215's, 77.7 grains of H1000 gives me 3012 fps. (30" Broughton 5c bbl) For the 230 OTMs i shoot 76.3 grains of Retumbo at 2900 fps.
If you want a good bullet that is EASY to tune ( and mag friendly ) I'd shoot...
Shouldn't be a problem. The classic hunter is VERY similar to the juggernaut. I have a GAP Crusader with a 22" Bartlein 1:11.25 that I shoot the 185 vlds with. With 46.5 grains I am getting 2650 fps. And that's not even close to being that hot a load. So I'd say you can EASILY get 2700 fps.
I shoot the 185 Juggernaut out of a 28" Bartlein 1:11.25. With 47.2 grains of PP2000MR I'm getting 2830 fps with SD of 6. This is 15 shots through an Oehler 35p.
Shooting lapua brass and a FGM210M. It's about 1.1 fps per degree at the very most.
It's an accurate load. Take it out to 1200...
H4350 at 43.5 grains will yield about 2915 fps. Reloader 17 will push them so fast it will blow your mind. Try and stay away from 17, it's really dirty and takes forever to get your rifle clean. Stick with 4350 if you can. You won't burn your bbl out and it's given me great speed and accuracy...
