    264 WM heavy bolt lift

I'm the OP and went back out yesterday to determine if case lube was indeed the problem, or not. I first gave the chamber and bore a good cleaning to establish there was nothing on the chamber walls, nor an excess of copper buildup in the bore. I fired three rounds of Nosler Custom ammo...

    264 WM heavy bolt lift

Thank you for your input, I appreciate it. I've started low and worked up with the Partition, Accubond and LRAB, and encountered no pressure signs. Since the Ballistic Tips and Accubonds are from the same manufacturer, are the same dimension, weight, ballistic coefficient, and sectional...

    264 WM heavy bolt lift

Have been doing load development on my 264, Rem 700 action, 26" Lilja barrel with 8" twist, H-S Precision stock. Have found 68.0 gr Retumbo to give good accuracy with 140 gr Partitions (3120 fps), with 140 gr Accubonds ( 3250 fps) and with 142 gr LRAB (3100 fps). Since 140 Ballistic Tips...

Randy, great info, thanks! Great pics also. I'm guessing that's Hells Canyon? What kind of MV does your SAUM produce? Al

    For the 264 guys

Randy, thanks. I had also considered the Berger. I have a box but haven't loaded for them yet. I was thinking it might not be of stout enough construction for use on elk. Could you please elaborate on your reasoning? Thanks Al

    For the 264 guys

Will be elk hunting this fall with the 264 WM. Where I'm hunting I expect the shot to be 400 yds+/- 40 or so. My rifle will fire a 140 NPT at 3120, a 140 NAB at 3200, 142 LRAB around 3100 also. Given that the velocity at 400 yd will be around 2400fps, which of the three would be the best bullet...

    .264 once fired brass question

one of the RCBS, 4 in 1 plug in tools. A brush scrubs the neck. After its scrubbed and chamfered, it goes into the corn cob media for 24 hrs. I'll check the necks on the next batch I clean and check for carbon. Good tip, thanks

    .264 once fired brass question

I found a great load with Nosler (new) brass, 140gr NPT and CCI primers. 68 grains Retumbo gave just over 3100 fps with great accuracy. I neck sized the brass, prepped, cleaned and reloaded with the same ingredients. The point of impact shifted right by about 6" at 330 yds and while I...
