I have had issues with grouping on a lead sled too. The recoil always felt unnatural or akward. My 300 WM Sendero also required bedding work for good results.

HuntnID That metcalf is really nice. It can be pricey depending on the options you go with. It doesn't appear to have a configuration to carry a rifle or bow. I am gonna do some research on the metcalf. Thanks for the feedback!

What is your opinion on either of these packs? Need a day pack that is capable of overnight use in reasonable conditions. And somthing that can help pack out meat and a hide. Going ibex hunting next month in southern nm, I need a pack that rides well on my back.

I shouldn't speak so boldly against the Molle and the Alice pack. I just have a lot of miserable miles with those packs under my belt. They lack good load lifters off the shoulders and they are not adjustable to people of different sizes.

With 14 years of service I can say that I wish the military would purchase their packs from badlands or tenzing. The Molle ruck in my opinion is garbage. The Alice pack is much better, but still not ideal. Sure you can load both packs with tons of heavy stuff, but neither are good for load bearing.

Under most circumstances I do like the simplicity of these tarp shelters. I do think that I need something more like a bivy since this hunt is in an area loaded with rattle snakes. I'd hate to have one curl up around my head during the night.
