well I'm only shooting to 500 yards on deer and an occosioonal elk so I'm not worried about being under-gunned. Also I really don't want any more recoil then the 7 mag and I'll be carrying this around so any more weight is'nt necessary. And for any1 shooting a 7mm magnum ofany kind the berger...

Hello I have decided that I want a new custom rifle in 7mm rem mag. And I was thinking about using a 26 Shilen barrel and a McMillen stock. Is there any-way I could improve this and what action should I use?gun)?gun)?

Honestly your right but I like high bc bullets at high speed!!!! and my opinoin of minmum per formance is less than 2800 fps

I dont like the minimum velocity of the 260 rem I someday hope to start reloading and if I do ill use some thing like a 6.5-300 win mag and the 264 win mag is hard on barrels and usally doesnt have agressive enough twist rate fro 145 gr + bullets

I do like the 6.5 mm cal but I dont handlaod so in my oppinion I wouldnt be able to use the benifits of this gr8 caliber.

I'm likely to stay with the stw but if I do any elk hunting thought I might want a heavier bullet or lighter rifle. I do not hand load if taht helps'

I'm likely to ue a 7mm STW as for a cal. but I'll mainly be hunting deer and an occasional elk hunt. It really comes down to what kind of barrel and stock and action you think i should use

gun)I disagree that the 270 WSM is the equal to the 6.5 WSM because of the availibility of high ballisitic coefficent ammunition it is however a standardized cartridge so if you dont handload its the way to go

using 62 grs of allaint reloder 22 a sierra 140 gr SPBT can be loaded up to 3230 FPS gun)that's fast!!!!!
