Looking for Respectable Mule Deer Hunt

I shot a 170 mulie in the Sandhills of Nebraska a few years back for $1500. I just checked though and the outfitter isn’t doing hunts anymore.

How far out will you kill an elk by yourself?

in direct correlation to antler size. A raghorn, maybe a couple hundred yards. A 400” 8x9, a few miles at least.

    Butte, MT

I lived in Butte in the early 2000’s and I loved it. Don’t know how much it’s changed though, it’s been nearly 20 years. Twin Bridges and Ennis are smaller but very nice. Can’t speak to the Kingdom Hall angle, don’t know that scene. But you gotta keep the Mrs happy for sure.

A Career Opportunity in the Firearms Industry with AllTerra Arms

Entirely different though because lots of us on here pay good money to shoot and record the results. So a job that pays you to do that is attractive to some of people here even if the pay is not great. I'm betting nobody here does dialysis work as a hobby.

What is the rifle you passed by that you regret not buying

Piles of marlin guide guns back when they were at every gun shop used for $450. Also the ruger 77 skeleton stock rifles. They were everywhere for $400 bucks. Generally not great accuracy was likely why, so I’m astounded what they go for now. Just makes no sense.

A Career Opportunity in the Firearms Industry with AllTerra Arms

While I am a fan of higher wages generally, this is a very niche job that getting paid for is icing on the cake. Heck most of us are shelling out thousands a year to do this. Agree even in Idaho you aren’t supporting a family on this wage but for a young single person or retiree it would be a...

Why do you use Match bullets hunting?

Mostly because it works is why I do it. My brother in law had 150 depredation permits for his farm to shoot does. Handed them all to me and said have fun. I shot 130 with a 223 using factory black hills 69gr match. The furthest one ran about 50 yards. The other 20 were killed with...

    Necessary precision to kill something

I just prepare so I have a good rest if I'm going to take a long shot on an animal. It has not at all been my experience that practicing with a rest is useless. With a little forethought most of my hunting shots have been off a backpack with some kind of rear support. If we are talking...

I agree, 1 shot groups is where it’s at.

    Necessary precision to kill something

I agree the limit for most people for hunting is likely a couple hundred yards less than they think it is. That said an absolute limit seems like it would vary significantly based on caliber. Across every ability of shooter, it’s just ballistics that they can hit the vitals at further range...

    Necessary precision to kill something

The main key is being realistic about where you fall on that continuum. I take my 308 to 1100yds on steel and feel good about my accuracy. 500 is my max when shooting at game animals.

What do you guys think of this???????

But those companies in addition to marketing actually make a real product. Unlike YouTube experts. Sure leupold hypes their scopes, but they actually make scopes that people like.
