I didn`t use a DBM on that rifle just a blind ADL setup. I had McMillan build the stock that way. I wouldn`t think you should have mag issues as long as the case diameter is the same as the cartridge the mag was made for. I would think you should be able to load the shortys in the longer mag...

I prefer using a long action for the shorter cartridges just for the added magazine length for seating the bullets long. The first one I ever did this on was a 22-6mm IMP with 80 gr Bergers. I used a Rem 700 LA for a donor. Works just fine. My .02

I have had great luck with Burris XTR IIIs, and I have 1 XTR II that has been just as solid. Glass in The XTR II is good, but not on par with the XTR III. Tracking has been spot on for both. have also have a couple of Sig Tango 4s that have been solid. Most all my scopes are FFP. My .02

Just guessing here. But I would think you might induce a little cant to your ring level if it was not tightened down evenly. I use the MKM billet rail mounted levels myself, so like I said just guessing. Who`s rings are you using?
