7mm SAUM and 180 Berger Hybrids in Short Action?

Can this be done with success? I've heard of close to 3,000 fps with this loaded at 2.98" to fit in a magazine. Is it possible?

Do you have loads if you have tried this?

Any advice would be great. I'm going to try it one way or the other.

Please keep us posted on this one, as I'm waiting for my barrel in 7mm SAUM built on a 270 WSM Savage Action. I was thinking of starting out with the AB bullet and am curious hear other combination's. What magazine are you using to be able to seat a 2.98 OAL?

I guess anything is possible with a long enough barrel but..... since Berger shows the 7 RUM doesn't shoot that fast I doubt a 7 SAUM will. Mine gets 2750 fps w/ the 180 VLD's and a 25" barrel. This load is so accurate I use this rifle to test other rifle scopes to verify they hold impact. I'm using H4831, if I switched to Norma MRP they show 100fps gain. Now saying this it shoots like it's going 2900fps according to my bullet drop ap. I'm using the V2 chrony.

It's not only possible, my rifle does it. I might have a fast barrel, but I'm getting 3050 fps with a 26" Brux barrel using H4831SC, CCI BR2, and 180 Hybrids. The load is above "book" max but it barely showed signs of pressure. I ran it a little hotter, but accuracy suffered. I originally developed the load for my single shot, but with the idea of making it into a repeater, I shortened the COAL to fit into the alpha mag. There was no noticeable difference in accuracy. The rifle shoots 1/2 minute at least, with my best 5 shot group at 506 yds that can be covered with a dime.

built my saum on a long action and will only about 2850 before i see pressure. im using norma brass and i think its a bit thicker than remington.

Long Action with 24" barrel. 180 Berger Hybrid with a 3.070" COAL. Pushing a max load of Retumbo. Getting 2900 fps avg. Using 7SAUM Norma brass and on 7th firing and brass still doing great.

In my 7wsm at coal of 2.93" I get a hair under 3000 with MRP and 7828ssc. No pressure.

It's a Borden Alpine, and I'm shooting single shot for this batch....

At 2.95 with Alpha mags, no special modifications made in order for the rounds to feed.
