I was interested in building a similar rifle. I saw the 700 Long Range on the shelf and had to have it!

I have made several modifications to this rifle including a full trigger job including swapping the springs, modifying the bolt handle (There is more function here than it seems, the old bolt handle used to hit my finger on every recoil.) and I had a JP Eliminator muzzle brake installed.

I did my first round of load development and got a beauty of a group at .323"!

Nice rifle. That Rem LR deff has my attention. Not bad price on them as well.

I thought that I could square the action and re down the barrel and get better performance but doing that changed nothing if not made it slightly worse. I have never seen a barrel that shoots as good the second time you mount it though. Since this is my starter setup, I figure I will shoot this barrel out then put a better one on it anyways.

If anything, the barrel and action is probably the best donor setup you could get.
