Hi all, hope you guys can give me some insight. I'm planning on getting a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 FFP and installing on a Savage 12 FV. I'll use a 20moa one piece base. What I need to know is what height rings I should use? Anyone have a similar set up?
Any suggestions on which rings and/or base I should try would be greatly appreciated.

Thx Brent. You think the low will clear the 50mm objective on a varmint contour barrel?

Great info above and I also have recently purchased a Viper Vortex 6-24x50 PST FFP scope but do not have a 20 MOA built in base. I am starting to think I really should get one so I have plenty of elevation for shots out to 1000 yds.

What brand base do you guys recommend?

Thanks

The Nightforce is my favorite steel rail. If you're on a budget or looking to save ounces, the Talley is a nice aluminum rail. I've had a couple Seekins, but they are the only ones that actually needed bedding. The fit was off just a little.

EGW has worked well for me in the past, these are aluminum and of good quality. My last rifle I went with a stainless steel rail from Near Manufacturing in Alberta Canada, these are of very nice quality with a lower profile than the EGWs that I have used in the past.

I appreciate the info and have gone with the Talley rail that I was able to get for a little over $60. I am also going with the Vortex scope rings. I recently saw a video on youtube and some folks DO NOT recommend mixing the metals between the base and the rings (aluminum base and steel rings or vice versa). Do you guys find this to be true. I am just curious and since both my base and rings are aluminum I am good to go, but this was the first I had heard of this.

Thanks again.
