Weatherby Vanguard

The Vanguard (and Howa) certainly have plenty of after market options.
Stocks
Barrels
Triggers
Firing pin/spring upgrades
Drop Box Magazine systems

They don't need "truing" (IMO).

The S2 is much better than the S1, a buddy now has 3 S2s to my 3 S1s. His shoot nearly as well as my, now custom, as in all that is left is the action, bolt and trigger guard and semi custom, as in still has the original barrel which will be changed when it stops shooting sub 1/2MOA.

Right now I'm much more into Mark Vs and I'm using some R700 actions for my 26 Nosler based wildcats. I'd much rather use Vanguard S2s but I'm using take off barrels to cut costs and as testing/fire forming platforms.

Mmm MkV *drool*

The S2 is, by most accounts, far better built than the S1 so that makes sense. Great rifles. The options from Howa and Weatherby are just crazy

I mean these are just some generics of their respective websites. Chamberings from .204 ruger to .375. Lots and lots of variety

shot two different loads today that were under .5 MOA. 85g nos BTs measuring .416, and 117g hornady BTSPs measuring .438. S-2, 25-06, floated barrel. I dont now what I'm happiest about, the rifles accuracy, or that my handloading is FINNALY starting to shape up. Don't want to sound like I'm bragging, I,m just really happy with todays results.... My TC Icon shoots .75 MOA with factory ammo and a 3# trigger. The trigger is excellent but is at my prefured weight for a hunting trigger. This rifle will easily shoot .50 or better with handloads and a target trigger. It's definitly a quality build and happens to be in 30-06. I will be refining handloads for it but will retain the trigger.

Different synthetic stock, different trigger, different metal finish.

That's all. There is nothing magical about an S2 vs an S1. Build quality is the same bewteen the S1 and the S2, and both will shoot exceptionally well.

I've read reviews on the S2 that the trigger creep is gone and has a three position safety. I love my S1 but replaced the trigger because the creep was horrible. Bought a Rem 700 SPS and wish I had gotten an Vanguard. Better accuracy and I like the features better than the 700.
