Heard about it sure...even built my rifle around it...but also got some rumors not to get your hopes up till after the new 270 bullets are released.
HEARD those were coming first, but my source isn't what I'd call a good friend or an employee either...so take that for what it's worth.

Me too. The rifle is still in the cabinet waiting....and waiting....and waiting. Argh!

I have heard of sasquatch, but have never seen him. the 195 are in the same class. I will believe it when I see it. I believe the 264 and 338 cal are taking the spotlight as for now. The 30 has gained popularity with the 210, 215, and the 230. This combined with the other bullets probably take up all the time Berger has. This is my speculation. None of it is fact, just like Sasquatch.

I wonder how many folks built rifles for this bullet when it was announced that it was "in the works" a couple of years ago.
There was a big to-do about Berger doubling production equipment around the first of the year. Five months should be enough time to get the machines on-line...

With that being the case, maybe they're just worried that if they release this beast, that it would send the 7mm market into a frenzy and leave the rest out to dry...And the sales on all their other bullets would slow down drastically. Kind of like when the big .338's came out. Except now, the 7mm's wil have their day.

I would sure like to see what this would do in a STW or a Ultra Mag. 1 in 8 twist. I would think a 34 in barrel in a DTA chassis would be a combination that could favorably compete with the 338s with less recoil.

Maybe that's why I have two .284's going together now with tight twist tubes?
But still I am field smart enough to know the 7 will not be in the league as a good .338. Even with the current production bullets for the .338, let alone what just might be on the horizon for future 338 projectiles.

I do agree with BROZ. I do not think the 7mm will replace the ballistics of the 338. I do however think the 7mm is in second place. By far outweighing the big movement of the 264 calibers. I have not ever tried the Matrix offerings and I do wonder if there advertised BC is correct. It is nice to hear from a Barrel manufacture to say they do perform. Has anyone had any experience with the actual vs advertised BC?

Chris you got any BC figures on that past 1000? Typically from what I know the Matrix tends to trail the Bergers a bit.
As far as the calibers I have worked with extensively up to 338's, we need to keep an open mind to a 230 Berger wth a field tested G1 BC of .743. They will run 3200 in a RUM with RL33 and in a 30-338 Lapua AI upwards of 3400. To get a 195 gr 7 with a BC of even close to .8 over 3500 and hold together will be a task, and barrel life will suffer dramatically. That was what we ran into with the 7-338 Lapua. So you wind up with that gawd awful fact of diminishing returns staring you in the face again. Then the 30 become a little longer life and very hard to beat and the 338 with a .819 G1 BC at 3200 is making them all hustle to catch up. That's where I am at now. It has the best barrel life of all 3 by quite a margin. Spotting impacts of them all on a rock at a mile plus will make you tip your hat to a 300 gr .338. At 2500 yards good luck even seeing the impact of a 7.

Talked to Ryan @ Berger a little while ago, the initally tested G1 BC is .794, and the G7 BC is .406.
That's incredibly stout by ANY standards.
He said those numbers are just based on the first initial test, and they haven't completed testing yet, so that is just a rough idea to go by.
