I'm looking at a x-bolt in 280 or 270 but I would like to have a nice scope at a good price for about 50-150$ it may be a little low but I'm hoping to get more for my money. What do you think?gun)

I like the vortex line of scopes. Im sure they have something in that price range with decent magnification. Which u will appreciate once u see how good that xbolt shoots. Xbolts are great rifles and accurate

There really is no such thing as a nice scope in that price range. If you shop carefully, you can find something that will allow you to put rounds down range with reasonable accuracy and not break, but you aren't going to get much more than that. Decent scopes start around $250 to $300.

Good glass and repeatable adjustments are not cheap.

The same can be appied to just about anything in the gun & optics world.

I have been impressed by cheap scopes a few times, one of which is the Vortex Crossfire line of scopes. My buddy bought one as a quick & cheap scope to test out a new to him (used) rifle before deciding on taking it to the gunsmith to build a custom off of, just to see how it would shoot in stock form. He ended up liking the scope so he put it on his hunting rifle. I was pretty impressed for a $150 scope. I also recommend getting the BDC reticle.

I also recomend the DNZ 1-piece Gamereaper mount. Lightweight and strong. They're about $70.

I have looked through a couple scopes in your price range that are pretty decent. Like the other guys suggested, the Vortex Crossfire is a good choice. Nikon ProStaffs are also impressive to and a 3-9x40 can be had for around $150. The newer Weaver scopes also are pretty good deals and I actually have a cheap 4-16x44 Weaver Kaspa on my .270 that has low mounted target knobs and for the money it has been nothing but excellence so far. It is clear, has good eye relief, a wide range of zoom for those up close and personal shots on 4x to long range shots on 16x, and its adjustments are accurate and consistent. I planned on replacing it with a maybe a mid level Vortex in 4-16x but I can't really find anything wrong with the Weaver, other than it's made in China and doesn't have the awesome warranty that Vortex does. I would really take a good look at one of these Weavers though.

I think that Cabelas has a good amount of cheep o last to life time last scopes at ok prices. And or at plan b I could go to "Wallmart" they do have some good scopes and when I mean good I mean ok scopes.gun)

This. Unless you find a good optic used from a friend or maybe a local swap, you're looking at spending a good deal more on a decent optic. The cheapest I'd buy is a Nikon Prostaff for $150-200'ish, they're good for the money but if you're spending the money on the x-bolt I might spend more on glass.

I like the Diamondback BDC/wDH on my girlfriend's .270, but it's still not an amazing scope. Good out to 300 yards but there's better glass out there

I'd stay away from the pine ridge

I agree. I love my Viper HS 6-24x50 BDC. The capped finger-adjustable and resettable turrets are nice for a LR hunting rifle. You can buy custom turrets for it from Kenton, but I haven't had the cash yet.

My hunting rifle has a Kahles Helia KX 3.5-10x50 on it. I will buy cheaper glass for target rifles, but when hunting living animals, I want the best glass possible, so I can make the best shot possible, for the most humane and quickest kill. The glass is incredible. And the scope weighs virtually nothing. For a inside of 500 yards lightweight whitetail rig, it is perfect.

Here's the illuminated version (they don't make the non-ilum. anymore).

Good glass starts at $250- $300. Where the difference is between $150 and $250 is not by looking through them. When you pull them out of a case and pop a few rounds at the paper- no difference. Walk two miles to the other side of the mountain and trip, hitting the scope a little and that $150 scope will add right windage for a non existent 100mph cross wind. Ditto the mounts. I switched to Talley One Piece Lightweights as they are pretty stout for what's there. Everything is screwed to the receiver- no slots or dovetails.

The internals are where the difference in $150/$250 lies. Believe me when I say it is money well spent.
