Got my hands on some 30 cal 215 hybrids currently shooting the 210 very accurately. Are they worth switching to??

Why what???

7.82 warbird currently shooting 210s at 3550 MV with same hole 100 1.25" avg 300 and 2" 500

Just seems the whole craze is the 215 didn't know if they were something special so when I found some I bought if not worth it seems I could sell quite quickly

Your choice to stay or change.

I chose the 230s for my 300 RUM for the same reason many switched to the 215s, higher BCs.

I have tested and shot the 210, 215 and 230's in many different chamberings. The 215 I feel is the go to bullet for a 30 cal up to the size of the 300 win mag. It works very well for target and hunting and what I swear by for my 300 wins. But if I have more case capacity than a 300 win I would opt for the 230 to get all the BC I can and to get away from some of the expansion at close distances with a 215 over 3100 fps MV.

If you have the ability to push them the 230 is awesome. They were a killing machine even in the 300 wins we tested them in. Plus with the 230 you have two designs that allow you to choose between a BC of .718 and .743. These choices have a bit different jacket thickness and let you choose the bullet that will preform best at the distances you would be shooting.

So in short with a rifle like yours I would go with the 230 over the 215 as long as I had adequate twist rate like a 1 in 10. I feel if your rifle shoots the 210 well, as it does, it will shoot the 215 or the 230 equally well or even better.

Zeroed at 100 at an elevation of 1050 at 35 deg day.. scope height 1.875 then shooting at 300 with 100 yd zero equals 5.25 inches of drop which equals 3550 in three diff programs so idk y quick load gave u that. I have field verified to 1400 with the drop chart at 3550 and have had only very minor adjustments have shot 100 300 400 500 600 900 1000 and 1400

Make that 5 different ballistic programs as mine says 5.5" drop at 300 yards equals 3,550 fps also.

But QL says with 101.5 gr of Retumbo in a 29" tube about the best you could hope for would be 3,330 fps. That has the burn rate up to 0.3700 and the weighting factor set to 0.3 and pressure at 67,633 psi. QL is just an estimator but it would be pretty odd to be this far off. Based on your comments I take it that you have not run this load over a chrono. If you have a buddy that has one it would be interesting to see what you get.

U are correct at the time the weather was crappy and couldn't get enough lighting so I just took it out and did it by measurement.. I have one I'll shoot thru it and see what it says..

I know where ur coming from this is even my own rifle and I didn't believe it lol..
