So I bought a tikka 300 wsm put a McMillan edge on it a powder coated the gun and topped it off with a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44BT. Since installation I have not touched a dial on the new scope. It was almost bang on at 200 yards which is the distance that do my load development at. So I found my load and only had to adjust 4 clicks to the left and entered my ballistics in the Swarovski site a I set my dial clicks to 400,500,600 yards. I confirmed 200 yard 0 this morning and then moved out to 500 yards and put 2 shots inside a 4" painted circle twice on a 2 X 2' steel plate. What a awesome scope and I've never been so happy with a scope but I have never owned this caliber of scope before. My load is a 168 ttsx @ 3250 fps.

I have the plex reticle and I love it but I have not hunted with it yet. I find the other reticles to busy, I like it simple. I was amazed that the only adjustment I made was 4 clicks left and was hitting a 3-4" circle at 500 yards. If you can afford one I would say do it.

I you tried the reticle at last light?
Thanks

I only have VX-3 and VX-R to compare to but it definitely pulls light in better than them and I would expect it to for that price. Actually when I went in to buy a scope that day I had a VX-6 in my sites until I looked at the Z5.

Marinetowgunner,

Do you dial ranges on your Z5? How reliable is that turret? Has it been repeatable?

TRM,

What about the Z5 changed your mind over the VX-6?

Ted

What changed my mind was the idea of not having to pay to have a new turret made if I happen to change my load, and the weight savings of the Z5, and that they are 1" tube and not 30 mm. CDS are fine and I actually have one but they aren't in the same league as the Swarovski BT. My Z5 weighs 15.9 and the VX-6 is 19.0 oz and I was looking to stay as lite as possible. Total package is 7.3 lbs.

All great reasons...hear the optics quality is also excellent! If I were to change out my VX-6 3-18X50, it would certainly be the Z5!!

Oh yes I guess I didn't mention that. You can Cleary see there was a difference in quality when comparing the 2 scopes .
