This is a early/mid Nineties made Weatherby Vanguard (made in Japan) in a Factory made Fibermark stock, (100% Fiberglass stock more then likely made by H-S Precision for Weatherby), DBL bottom metal, H.D. swivel stud bedded into the stock (will not pull out). Prior issue that was corrected this year. I bought this gun brand new 1994-96 as a .243, and converted later for my girlfriend in 2002.

Hart Rifle Barrels did all the chamber work, lapped the lugs, squared the action, bedding, fluted the barrel and crowned it at 22". LOP measures 13.25" by my measurements.

Comes with a 30 MOA picatinny base made by Murphy Precision, Timney Trigger Nickel Plated, I also have the factory trigger, and a set of standard leupold bases as well.

Round count to date is 414 rounds that I have from my reloading data book, plus some factory loaded ammo that brings the total to 454.

I have various loads loads for this gun that will shoot 3/8" groups. 140gr. Nosler BT's, 140 gr. Sierra GK's, 160 gr. Nosler AB's and 168 gr. SMK's (the last two are under 1/2 moa out to 600 yards).

I have loaded ammo and brass to go w/this gun:
34-160gr. NAB in Winchester brass
20-140gr. SGK in Winchester brass
27- 168gr. SMK in Federal brass
3-140gr. NBT in Federal brass
As well as a partial box of some Factory Hornady stuff.

I'll also include a Hornady Die bought a little over a month ago. I also have a Redding Type S Match Die Set I'll sell if anyone is interested?

Asking $1,060.00 Shipped and insured. (Does not include scope or bipod in pictures). I have taken well care of this gun, there is no rust, the barrel cleans up super fast and stays accurate once fouled. The barrel was never fired more then eight rounds at any one time, and most of the time only three-five rounds.

Not looking for any trades, the sale will help fund another rifle I purchased.

Re: Hart Rifle Barreled Wby. Vanguard 7mm-08

What's the weight-scope? Good looking rifle.

It weights:
Just under 11 lbs. w/the scope pictured, a padded ammo stock pack, five loaded rounds and a Harris Series S BRM bipod 6"-9".

8.5 lbs. with just the Harris type S BRM Bipod 6"-9".

7.5 lbs. the gun only w/the picatinny base attached.

Gets pretty light when you strip it down.

Re: Hart Rifle Barreled Wby. Vanguard 7mm-08

Last night I decided to shoot the gun for some pictures to post. A week ago or so I had changed the scope rings out to get the scope lower, so I had to zero the scope again. POI was dead level only 7" left, not what I expected? Not wanting to put too many rounds down range I checked the load on a few long range shots at steel.

Honestly this gun shoots with boring regularity that builds great confidants knowing you'll hit at what you aim.

These are with some Lapua ammo left over from my last match, all at 19" round steel at dusk with heavy fog/mist moving along the mountain top.
3 shots standing at 337 yards all hits.
3 shots sitting at 402 yards, missed #2.
2 shots sitting at 582 yards, all hit.

I ate up another 15 rounds down the barrel, not that it should matter since I'm pretty sure a 308 is good for something like 5,000 rounds before going to the grave, so a 7mm-08 should last at least 4,500 rounds. Especially since I've only let the barrel get warm during slow fire..... I'm old, and therefore slow, but I can hit what I aim at the first time!

What velocities are you getting with your loads? Also, will you provide your load data for the rifle?

Both 140's @ 2820 fps
NAB 160 @ 2650
SMK 168 @2525

But Yes, I will supply the data, ammo on hand w/listed data on the boxes and any help with what I tried in the past. This gun was easy to tune with various bullets.

Re: Hart Rifle Barreled Wby. Vanguard 7mm-08

This target was shot on 03/24/2013 during load development using the Sierra 168 Match King bullet. The smaller upper right group is off a shooting bench @100 yards, the other three shot group was @300 yards. You'll note that these bullets are not seated below the neck shoulder juncture which adds case capacity and aids accuracy by not being deeply seated into the case.

Unfortunately I tried this load again with a different lot powder and was unable to duplicate the previous load. The remaining old lot powder was used to assemble more of the original load using the Nosler 160 AB I developed back in 07/2003.

All velocities are taken 20' from the muzzle.

Re: HART BARRELED WBY. VANGUARD 7mm-08; plus more ammo

I went looking for what brass I had on hand and found a bunch of load ammo instead!

This is what I found that will also go with the gun and is additional to the ammo listed above.

20 Rds. Factory Winchester 140 Fail Safe Ammunition
15 Rds. Factory Federal Premium High Energy 140 Trophy Bonded Bear Claw Ammo
10 Rds. Factory Hornady Light Magnum 139 SST Interlock Ammunition+ 10 pcs. brass
20 Rds. Handloaded Nosler 140 BT's Federal brass, super accurate, 2885 fps
45 Rds. Handloaded Nosler 160 AB's Winchester brass- 1/2 moa ammunition to 600 yards
40 Rds. Handloaded Sierra 140 Pro-Hunter Winchester brass, also super accurate
__________

150 Rds. of Ammunition listed above plus the ammo listed in first FS posting of 84 brings the total loaded ammunition to 234 Rds. of Ammunition that will go with the gun.

Final list Total of Loaded Ammunition:

20 Rds. Factory Winchester 140 Fail Safe Ammunition
15 Rds. Factory Federal Premium High Energy 140 Trophy Bonded Bear Claw Ammo
