That is awesome good news! I love my 7.62x40WT. By far the best cartridge for an AR15 carbine. Any idea when brass will be around? Do you have any contacts or a web site? If you have one of these AR's you already know it is the best caliber for the AR platform. A very balanced cartridge that usually takes a 308 125 grain bullet and sets it on a slightly compacted load. I am getting 500 fps over Bill's current recipes. As he stated his loads are well below max. You don't need to take it to max however. I am using a full case of 1680 to the bottom of the neck. I put a 125 grain Hornady SST on top. The Chrony says average velocity is 2720 fps. Of course work it up slowly. Very mild recoil. No signs of over pressure. This is the cartridge for serious CQB work and has no issue dropping a big Ohio whitetail or a Texas pig out to 250 yards. The perfect AR15 package. I think if we had this round on the AR from the start there would have never been a 22 caliber Military version. The 125 grain 30 cal bullets hit hard. The lead based SST gives great bullet length for the 1 in 12 and 1 in 10 twists and it is a faster flatter shooting bullet than the all copper or powdered metal bullets which get a little long. There are so many 308 bullet choices. It is a shame that some jumped to quickly into the Whisper or the ACC Blackout as neither can come close in velocity or accuracy. It is the fastest 30 cal AR by far when loaded to itsfull potential. It will go sub orsupersonic. Really a nice package. Had it for two weeks before I took off the Whisper barrel and the AAC barrel and sold them. No need for those anymore that's for sure!

Of course it'sno big deal to turn 5.56 cases into 7.62x40WT. 100 of them took me an hour anda half. Deadly accurate. Not at all fussy like it's Whisper or AAC cousin.

I have seriously been considering an AR platform in 7.62x40wt. Can you give me some accuracy info? Hows it shoot ? MOA @ 100yds? How far out is it effective? Really curious guys ad any input would be great. I want a shooters opinion. Not the ammo box or salesman at the counter.

Jimbo, just saw your post. Sorry about the late reply. Couple of things. Yes mine easily shoots MOA to 250 yards with good hand loads or Wilson's ammo. The Wilson Barrel is all you need and it is a very nice barrel indeed. It is all you need to convert a 5.56 to 7.62 x 40WT. The standard clips work fine but you lose one round. The Wilson lancer modified mags are super nice and will shoot either 5.56 or 7.62 x 40WT. They are a good price. The barrels are also a great value. I got mine for under $300. The heavy bullet and slower .308 velocity of the WT cause it to drop rather fast after 250 yards or so. It still has plenty of punch but... it does drop fast way out there. Use bill Wilson's loading data posted on his web site and run the trajectory to see if it fits your plans. It really shoots well with this process..... Start with PROPORLY annealed 222 or 223 brass like Lapua. It will form nicely and give a good uniform bullet pull. I have a production annealing Machine and I form and trim Lapua 223 brass then re anneal. I anneal after every resize. The brass is harder and thicker as you move down the case. Using this process I have been shooting Hornady 110grn VMax projectiles with great success. It is a tack driver with this process and bullet. It was great as shipped with Wilson's loads holding MOA to 250yrds to 300yrds most of the time. Recoil is the same as the 5.56. This caliber really shines as a CQB carbine or, as a really, really nice Semi auto deer and pig gun and generaly speaking works well on all North American game except maybe a Grizzly. I use it for Hunting, as well as CQB work and it sets next to the bed for home protection to back up my 1911. It is really a super carbine. Hope that helps you.
