Doing my first reloading with the wby, my other reloading has been in smaller calibers. I will be using swift scirocco 2 130gr bullets, imr7828, weatherby brass and Winchester mag primers. Does any one have a good starting point to from for working the load up. Was planning at starting at 69 or 70 gr and going up to around 75. Just wondering if anyone had tips as I am not close to the range so takes a bit to get out and shoot.

65 grains of 3100 powder for about 2950fps. 72.5 grains is max at 3350fps. Magpro seems to work well too. But nothing works as well as AA3100.

Great choice of powder. I use 7828ssc exclusively in mine. It far and away provides the best combo of accuracy and speed of all the powders I've tried, which seems to be the case for lots of folks who shoot the 270 Wby.
Although, I've never tried the 130 Swift Scirocco, I think your starting load at 69 would be just fine. As for the top end, you may not make it to 75. My max is 73.5, which gives me 3450 with the Hornady 130 SST and 130 Accubond. My gun is Weatherby Mark V with a 26 in barrel.
Good luck with your loading. The 270 Wby is an absolute terror in the field. Imo, it's the most versatile North American cartridge Weatherby makes. Shoots as flat as a 257 and hit's almost as hard as a 300.

Gibbo, I am also trying to find a accurate load for my 270 Wby Mark V. Tried the 130, but am having much better accuracy with 140 Bergers. Just purchased some 150 Bergers to try also. Best results so far with H 4831SC, but want to try with H1000. I think I need some more rounds down the barrel for break-in to find the top load for accuracy. Using Weatherby brass, 215 M primers and redding dies. Hope to share my most accurate with you.
Don't be afraid to run it hard. I often find the best accuracy on the top end. Both of my 257's are the same way as well.
Sounds good, I really want the 130 to work out as I will be using it for antelope but will move up if I can't get a good group.

Went and shot today and had mixed results. Shot three round groups for sake of time which might not have been the best idea. I shot from 69 grains to 74 in whole grain intervals letting the barrel cool in between.
I had similar groups at 71 and 74 and it opened up in between. At 74 the bolt started to get slightly sticky but nothing serious.
Now I am not sure what to do but think I will probably go back and play around the 71 gr mark and try and find a good load in there. I want a all season load so this seems like the best bet as the bolt sticking wasnt bad but it was only 30 degrees.
Any suggestions I am all ears.

Don't give up. Play with seating depths and try 1/2 grain increments. If that doesn't work, switch bullets. Fwiw, my pet load was found at 73.5.
If you don't have any luck with 7828 after adjusting seating depths and powder charges, try RL-19. This was also a very good powder and provided consistent moa, sub moa performance with the 130's. It also provided good velocities, although just a click slower than 7828. If you don't have access to RL-19, I would look to H-1000 or RL-25 next.
