300 rum loads

RL33 and 230 Hybrids, can't beat that combo in a 300 RUM.

Start at 94 gr and work up. 96 gr in my rifle is equivalent to about 100 gr in others pressure wise.

My first load was 95.2 of rel 25 with 180gr Nosler Partition gold. There are close to two dozen of us around here who used that load until they stopped making that bullet.I then went to accubond then 175gr Berger's.I changed to 98.2grs of Retumbo when I found out it was better in my gun for temp changes.I have a stock 700. This load is going right at 3400fps and holds 3inch groups at 500 meters

I'm doing about what Montana is doing, but with a 225 hdy match and 95 rl33 in a lh bdl. I also have a bunch of 180 hdy loaded with 93-94 rl25 and some 190 hdy's loaded with a charge of wc872.

My paper load:
240 SMK
Nosler brass
GM215M
92.0 grains H50BMG
.015" Jump
Runs at 2950 and is not pushing the limit so brass lasts me a while.

Hunting Load:
200 Cutting Edge C22
Rem Brass
GM215M
101.0 grains H870
.010" Jump
Runs at 3250, but unfortunately loses stability beyond 600 yards in my 10 twist. I will switch over to their 180 grain offering as soon as these run out. This is for my tight neck (.338") trued 700 with a 28" pac-nor.

I'm with MontanaRifleman, RL-33 shoots great with 230 Bergers for me. I found like others that it performs best when seated close to the lands. I jump them .007.

99.0 gives me average 3032 with good accuracy.

I'm very close to freebird loads as well. I been doing a ladder test at 600 yards to try and find my best seating depth for my bullet (210 VLD's)...My gun seem to prefer about .070 off the lans. I was shooting 91.5 grains of retumbo in all my test. The best 3 shot group was .07 and .09 off the lans with an ES of 18 fps. Avg., speed was 3015fps at this seating depth (0.070 off lans). I would like to get the speed up a little but probably wont go much past 92 grains as it seem my rifle start to open up the groups when driving it harder. When I bought the rifle I was hoping for 3100 with the 210's but if groups not there then your just burning powder and barrel life. If I can get the groups down it much easier to kill something shooting 1/4 or 1/2 moa gun than shooting a 2moa gun.

I can not seat the bullets in my 700 out far enough to touch the lans but using it mostly for hunting I have to keep them factory specs to go in the clip.I still get dime size groups at 100 yards. The only thing I have done to the gun was to set the trigger at 2.5 lbs.

It's a Broughton 5C barrel. For some unknown reason it is producing higher than normal pressures for the load. My first ladder pressure test showed same pressures at about 101 gr that 96 gr is currently showing.

Well that's sure good enough for hunting. I have a Remington 700 Police and I put an extended box in mine from Brownell's and that lets me get .010" off the lands with a 200 gr. Accu-Bond.

By not being able to touch the lands I mean I can seat the bullet just enough to hold the bullet and it will not touch the lands.I shot with severals guys with remington 700's in 300 RUM and they can not touch the lands in theirs. We just thought Remington free bored the 300 RUM barrels for some season

so from reading the other day about reloaders 33 it seem to be made to be a temp stable powder. Is this correct? I think it was the only powder I seen listed form the the allient powder with this statement............................................................... Its double base gives it consistent performance across temperature and humidity extremes, and it meters well for easy and precise loading.
If so than this may be something to try as well with those big 230VLD...Also when installing a wyatt mag box for getting longer bullets in the mag...does the action need to be machined as well for correct feeding?
