Friend of mine picked this up and is looking to fund another project. I told him I'd ask here to get a fair value.

Winchester model 70 "sporter" we think.
7MM STW
Magna ported
He was told it has a "very low round count"
Appears OEM stock was krinkel painted.
Millett bases and rings
Crap scope
Located in Oregon.

Pictures not the best, using unfamiliar camera.

Let me know what you want for it and give me first right of refusal if you don't mind…..I picked up a model 70 sportster for 400 bucks last year… You can call winchester and give them the serial number and they can tell you all about it if you like….. Or maybe I can do it???

Unfortunately for your friend I'd say not a whole lot. the magnaporting really devalues the rifle to anyone who'd buy it for a collectors item and both the stock and action show some considerable wear.

If you hang onto it long enough you might luck out and get 600.00 out of it but 400-500.00 at most is more in the realm of reality.

Basically the only real value would be as a donor action to build something else on.

Figure out what you want for it, let Mario Know and if he doesn't want it let me know. I like the Model 70 action and would use it to build another rifle on.

Thanks guys, I will let him know but I do know he is is to it way deeper than the numbers mentioned so I wont bother trying to sell it here. I will say the action had almost no visible wear and the stuff on the bolt that looks like wear is old lube/dust gunk. It is a shame someone painted that stock, It really makes it look bad. Maybe I will try to find him a replacement take off stock.

I'll give you a yardstick. The last three Model 70's I bought were all magnum long action, stainless, in near new condition, nice stocks and with Leupold scopes on them and I paid under 800.00 for each of them.

I'll give a meter stick. ( little longer than a yard so my offer is higher!!!!) right rose?? Hahahaha.
Good luck with the gun. Let me know what he wants for it

All he has is an action, how's the action? rusted was it squared ever? I'd sell it as an action, that's all it's worth. $300.

It's a complete low round count rifle....It needs some stock help, No it isn't a 6k custom

If that rifle was posted for 300 bucks it would be gone in 30 seconds and I bet you know that.

Right but you asked what it's worth. And you have 3 different guys telling you what we would pay for it. No low balling or disrespect intended!!!!!
The gun has the value it has. Too bad no real blue book value. Sorry buddy. Just let me know what your friend wants for it.

Thanks and good luck

Saying "all it is is a action" has nothing to do with it's current value but what one person would do with it. It is not wore out rusty or trashed nor just a action donor value, Yes if that's what someone elected to do.

He said He wants 800.

It sounds like he might have it sold locally though. (I have no idea for how much tough)

I do appreciate the replies.

We're really not roughing you up here or trying to lowball your buddy.

What the poster above means is that it's value is really in the action. The stock has little or no value and neither does the barrel since it was magnaported.

If he's got a buyer locally who'll give him 800.00 he'd better take it and run.

I understand he sees just a action, I have bought action donors myself but they needed barrel replacement or serious attention, This rifle with a better stock and scope choice (or not) could be a great hunting rig as is...Should we call it a lightweight or packing gun that was my point, Not it ONLY being good for a action donor especially being a STW and not just a '06 or something readily available.

And Is a added break (Muscle break for example) a addition in value and desirability but Magna porting kills value? This seems odd to me.

FWIW, I don't think this rifle is worth no 800 and I told him that but I do know it's worth a hell of allot more than 3 bills as a shooter if nothing else (or action).

Just a for instance.....

There is a nice stainless win 70 300 win mag with a scope available for. 700 bucks

This is on another site. The barrel is stock and in good condition.
I thin a break installed helps value and magna port decreased. I can remove a break. I'm stuck with a magna port.

Like rose said, we are not trying to beat you up. These are things that are just the way you are. And if he can get 800 or anything over 4, take it.

I have a very similar situation with a husqvarna 7mm I have. I wanted to sell it and it is in nice shape. Low round count. Ported barrel too. But I was shot down here. Learned that it's only worth about 600 bucks. That's just life I guess.
Anyway, happy Monday!!!
