I just bought this gun for a Friend who said he wanted one and then backed out. I personally have no need for this. I am looking to trade it off . I am looking for a S&W 686 with 4" barrel or other guns. NO SAVAGES!! Here is the exact description from the guy I bought it from.

I have for sale a 1970's vintage Marlin1895 in 45-70. The barrel is 22" long and has been ported (note pics). The metal is in very good condition. The stock is walnut, has no scratches butcould use refinishing. The hammer has a hammer extension to help cocking with ascope. I added a Pachmyer Decelerator to the stock and added a small spacer tomake the LOP 13.5". The mounts are Talley lightweights and come with thegun. The scope does not.

I believe that is an 1895G Guide Gun if I'm not mistaken. They originally came with checkering on the stock and ported barrel.

This is not a Guide Gun he states it a 1970's version. I bet if he checks and it is a 70's gun it will be marked that it has micro grooved rifleing. Guide guns came out in the late 90's and the ports were holes drilled in the bbl. They were also 18" bbls. and were ballard rifled.
