Since Bergers are no longer a viable option for over the counter purchase I want to see what the thoughts are regarding BOTW 142 JLK and Matrix 142 VLD.

I have shot the 160 Matrix with good accuracy success but am still unsure of their use at LR on yotes and wolves. The one dog I did confirm a kill on at 730 yards was penciled. Bad hit through the abdomen. Not a good test I know.

Just need to get on with other bullets so I still shoot and hunt. Any thoughts or other options on good LR bullets on smaller animals would be great. Thanks.

Try 123gr Hornady A-MAXs, they have a G1 BC of .510 or a 140gr A-MAX with a .585 BC. Have seen that these work excellent on game.

Why not the Bergers? Bullets.com has them in stock and at good prices. But since you asked, I've used the Amaxes with great accuracy, but some expansion issues, and I have a box of 140 hornady matchs that I will try upon my next reload session.

My thought exactly. The 140's should be available soon. BTW, there is now a 123 SST being produced. Midway shows it to be in stock. I don't think you would have trouble with penciling with any of the Hornady bullets.

Those 123 SSTs would be nice, doubt their BCs are as high as the A-MAX is though. I'm looking forward to trying the A-MAXs on game, I have heard tons of great experiences on guys using them for hunting

Bullets.com showed out of stock on 500 lot. I managed to round up 700 from different sources on line. Locally bullets in the 6.5 are extremely rare and bergers a like unicorns.
I need to stick with the highest bc hunting bullet I can for game. Target bullets are not an option for me.
Thanks for the feedback. I have spme Amax 140 I will try out.

I have developed a shopping list of the bullets that I use most commonly. I keep an eye on what is available. Any time a bullet type that is on my list is in stock, I buy some. I picked up a box of 500 of the 140g Hunting VLD's a few months ago, for example. I share your frustration in finding components like these. My best countermeasure is to buy them when I find them, whether I am low on them at the moment or not.
