Good day all I just recently purchased a Kimber Montana in a 280 AI, I had some slight mods done , trigger, bedding re-crown, now I am after some good load data , I was thinking of using some 162 AMAX or 140 AB ,or some 154 SST I also have , so if any of you Montana guys have any load data to share that would be greatly appreciated, I am hoping this gun will shoot .75-.5 MOA .

Not from Montana. But I think I can help a bit.
I've got a couple custom .280ai. Both of my rifles like H4831. Ive tried faster and slower burn rates and find 4831 to be the best for my rifles. With 162g maxes and 160g abonds over 59.3g of H4831 I'm getting reliable 1/3 Moa accuracy.
Hope this gets ya started.

+1 either H or IMR 4831 is a great powder for both the .280 and .280 Ackley. Its also one of the best .270 WIN propellants.

In my 280AI, I have used H4834SC, IMR4350, H1000, IMR7828SSC, Retumbo
Bullets have used are, 140gr accubond, 160gr accubond, 162gr A-Max, 168gr VLD berger, 168gr classic and 168gr long range accubond.
My current pet load is with 168gr long range accubond and Retumbo powder with Fed 215M primers.

How long is your barrel? Retumbo seems to slow.

I know some time has passed since you started this thread. Just thought of something else that might be helpful. In my experience with the .280AI I've never been able to get good accuracy out of Nosler 280AI brass. I've always had to fire form my own from Rem brass. Others may have their own experience. But I've found to get my rifle under .75 groups I needed to fire form. lightbulb

Length of your bbl doesn't decide what powders to use. Just because your bbl is longer doesn't mean you can fit more powder into the case, which is what really matters.

What kind of velocity are you getting with Retumbo and the 168's? I was going to test H1000 and Retumbo next.
