I know, its stupid to start a pic thread about something I dont have. But it would be much appreciated if anyone/everyone who has long range hunting rifles/target rifles/etc built on original G98/K98/M96/VZ.24/etc Mauser actions to post some pics of them and give the caliber/stock/mods etc.

Thanks so much

here is a 284 I built on a 98 obernoff ser# 1425 with a timmey trigger Montana bull barrel. match and a tactical stock from Richards . Custom bolt so I could mount a lower profile scope enjoy

Good idea for the pic thread, working on a VZ24 but it's not ready for pic's yet.
Really like Wilpenny's rifle, am curious if it's a single shot or a repeater?

its a repeater had to trim the rails a bit to allow for the larger case dia. I did the same on a 1893 mauser I built before this one[/IMG]

1st thing to do on a Mauser build is to change the safety to a Kepplinger or Winchester side type. Or else your thumb gets stuck on the scope or you have to buy higher rings to accommodate the fire position. All else cool about Mauser's especially hunting in the field. Nice stock on this one, but they are typically hunting rifles, I think the guy wasted a lot of money on this type stock.

here are a few more of my mauser builds Starting at the top My 338 win mag on a 98 action hart barrel next a 25/7mm mag wildcat Richards stock hart barrel next a 2506 akley with shilen barrel double set triggers santa Barbra action next a 284 win on a 1893 action and next is my 419 tatcial santa Barbra double set triggers shilen barrel 1/14 cera coated Richards tactical thumb hole stock 012.JPG

Beautiful rifles, glad to see someone doing them up. I have just 1 and a nice action to build one on presently. I don't know how to gunsmith or I'd build a few. You might know the answer to this question? I have a Model 1950 FN Commercial Mauser action in 30-06, could it be converted and built into a 375 Ruger or a 375 H&H?

Thanks if you know.

:)

Nice rifles

yes you can do it by opening up the bolt face or just getting a mag bolt body . why the big hammers lol the 375 H&H is one that works well or the 338 win .Or the 338?375. that's a hammer!!! id not recommend a 338 edge on this action

I like short range stopping power, I like stalking and to some degree the element of surprise and knowing you can put something down.

great looking mauser did you build it?? great looking classic im in awe!!!!!

if your talking about the last picture posted yes i built it. there is probably a 100+ hours in it and it will take out 8" floor tiles at 560 yards. its cambered in .243 win.

Yessir ncaster thats a sweet rifle. Especially love that stock you made. It looks perfect, exactly how Id do one, or atleast how I would like it to look when done lol.
Whats your favorite load and what barrel is on there?

Also thanks wilpenny you have some nice ones as well sir. I see you must like .284s and Shilen barrels. What contour is that on the third pic from the bottom? Also whats your favorite .284 load?

Thanks yall.

It is a adama & Bennett 24" stainless 10:1. When I was shooting out to 560yards I was using off the shelf federal ammunition 100 gr $19.99 a box. I have loaded up a better round with 90gr Berger with 43 grains of IMR 4360 let just say at 100 yards 3 shoots look like 1.
