cartrige selection for wife

I have a rem 700sa and my wife wants to start shooting with me out to 1000 yards. My wife has a small frame and I am just not sure she would enjoy a .308 as much as a smaller round. I am really torn between a 6br and 243 but am open to suggestions, it needs to be inherently accurate because she's not going to work that hard at getting good. The reason for a custom build is that if she has something to be proud of she will try that much harder. She will hunt deer and coyotes some so a little stopping power is a must.

how about a 260 or maybe 6xc theres always the 6 creedmoore all low recoil and great shooters for long distance and probably better barrel life then a 243 just some thoughts. although my wife shoots a 308, 7-300wsm and 6.5x284 but these guns weigh 13-18lbs so that helps a little. just some thoughts. put a can on her rifle and itll have a lot less recoil and sound!gun)

6.5 Creedmoor! Bought my wife a Savage Lady Hunter because she couldn't get comfortable shooting any of my rifles because of her smaller stature. Bought some factory ammo to do barrel break-in, establish a base line for accuracy and have some fire-formed brass for reloading. Much to my surprise the factory 120gr A-max shoots into a 1/2" and the load recipe is on the back of the box. Advertised muzzle velocity on the box says 2910fps, shot over the magnetospeed and it averaged 2870fps out of the 20" barrel. Although my wife is new to shooting, recoil of the Creedmoor is a non-issue for her. The little cartridge has a lot going for it. Good ballistics, accurate, low recoil, and factory ammo is quite good and not very expensive. Also the Hornady brass is surprisingly good and now Nosler is making brass. I really don't think either you or your wife would be disappointed in the 6.5 Creedmoor.

The .260 Ackley Improved would be an awesome caliber for her. Low recoil, fun to shoot, accurate as lightning.

All carry enough punch to hunt game and varmints.

AI versions will recoil more.

The Savage Lady Hunter in 6.5 Creedmoor looks to be a good option but the 20" barrel will be a limiting factor.

ITWM I'd get the Lady Hunter and swap or custom shop the barrel for the 26" LRP barrel or after market barrel. Hornady 6.5 Creedmoor ammo is great. The selection of bullets is fantastic. Reloading costs can be as low as you can go. Barrel life will be fantastic.

Make her happy, it's worth any cost.
