Hİ everyone. l need a answer for my situation. or let me say l need your thoughts on the situation.
l have 3 boxes of 175 grain 7mm rem mag pointed soft points left. l have had really good succsess with this ammo on ibex from ranges to 200-500 meters. now l need to buy more ammo as l dont have much left. but my question is.. l have 5 boxes of 150 grain federal soft points ( POWER-SHOCK ) AND Hİ SHOCK ) thay pretty much the saim thing l think. now l wanna ask if the 150 grain will drop em dead like the 175 grains do when not hit in the vitals. l dont wanna be looking for crippeled animals all day ? or should l go out and buy some more boxes of 175s but the thing with this is l dont wanna waist the 5 boxes of 150s if thay will stop İBEX ( MOUNTAİN GOAT ) in there tracks ?

thanks alot.

A 150 will dispatch any animal just as fast as a 175 when hit in the vitals. You will not have any problems with the 150's.

thanks alot for yur reply. so you meen the 150 will drop animals like the 175 when not hit directly at the vital organs but close to them ? as when l miss the vital area but land the bullet close anough with the 175s the animal still goes down as the shock wave of the bullets power bruces the animals lungs or strops the heart or something.

I agree with Creedmoor. The 150's will do fine. But why change what you have proven that works?

l just have these 150 here siting around so l was thinking l will just use them. l spent Money buyeng them. so l was thinking of saveing Money and sooting them if it will work :)

Why not just sell them and buy more of what works!!!
Or you could reload and have what works all the time!!

I completely understand trying to save money. They will work fine as long as you do your part with shot placement.

What I'd worry about first is whether or not they are as accurate.

I'd shoot a group of 3 or 5 and see how they work for you. There is a good chance that the accuracy will differ and that they will shoot to a different point of impact.

So, don't assume you can just load them in your rifle and shoot.

ofcorse thay wont hit without me sighting my rifle for 150 grain. :) l use a NİGHTFORCE NXS 8-32-56 once l sight that in for 150 grain bullets. accuracy will not be a problem :)

Not necessarily.

They might shoot a 4 inch group and show you that they are useless in your rifle.
Been there, done that.

Yep quite agree and if you have different batch numbers they may not shoot the same either!!
Its why i have reloaded all these years too - consistency!!!

Yes definitely shoot a few groups of 5 before you make the decision. I prefer the 150 nosler partitions for the 7mm rem mag. I loaded some up for my grandpa's browning x-bolt and first load tested was 1/2 in. Shot a 10 point whitetail with them and i've never seen a deer drop that fast before:D But if the 175's shoot better than the 150's then id stay stick with the 175's. The 150's should shoot flatter as well.

no thay shoot less then 0.5 moa at a hundred yards. used them before on wild boar. and target shooting. actualy thay are more accurate than the 175 grains. but the 175 seem to dispatch animals much easyer. but like all you guys said. if l place the shot well in the right area the animal has no choice of getting away with the 150s right ?

Thats good to hear!!
Well get what you can of the same batch numbers with them shooting that well..
