Well my gun is done and here it is:

This is my first custom rifle/build and it exceeds all my expectations. This build was a two part build as far as gunsmiths go. The gun was put together by my friend Rod Bryant of Bryant Firearms Repair and Trevor Rosencranse of Cloud Peak Gunworks (CPG). CPG chambered, crowned, and indexed the barrel. He installed the sako extractor, bolt knob, muzzle brake and applied the Cerokote. Mr. Bryant trued and blueprinted the action, glass bedded and free floated the stock, installed the trigger, base, rings, and optics. Both gunsmiths did an outstanding job and are masters of their trades. If someone is looking for a quality gunsmith for a rifle build, don't hesitate to contact either of them.

I was out hunting today, however, wasn't able to connect on a buck! Prior to leaving, I decided to shoot a rock @ 775 yds! Two shots, both hit on rock well under a MOA! Ill have to get back out and get some pictures! Really happy with this rifle!

I wouldn't worry too much about it. You are right in the sweet spot for the potential of this cartridge!

Speeds just about right! From Ballistic: 775 yds = 127.51" of drop, calling for 15.71 MOA, dialed 15.75, with spin and corialis, 4.71" right, .58 MOA, point of aim to point of impact, was probably 5" right and a little high! I didn't adjust for spin and the wind was at my back!

Well its almost a week later and finally got out to my target today to see my hits. It was a long trek in the deep snow, but is was worth it. I am impressed with this rifle to say the least. This would be the furthest I have ever shot. The first picture is of the rock I was shooting at. Point of aim was to the right of the glove. The only correction I made was up. I made no adjustment for wind or drift. Target was to my East. The wind was at my back while shooting, however, there was wind at the target. 1st hit was about 8" to the right and the 2nd hit was was directly above it on top of the rock. It is what it is, but if the target was flat, both of those shots would be almost side by side. I will be getting out to a 1000 yards hopefully this week and really seeing what this rifle can do!

I cut the foam tonight in my pelican 1750 for my new rifle! Funny thing is, I got the case last Christmas and finally opened it tonight!

Even if you get another 100 fps ? In real world shooting it won't make a big difference other than shortening bbl life .

I am happy where it is at! However, would like it to be @ 2950 - 2975! I believe after the barrel gets more rounds fired it will be where I want it! According to John Hoover, 2950 is the accuracy node for the 6.5 - 284! For those of you who don't know him, here is an interesting read. 6.5-284s of the Hoover Clan.
