I just returned from coyote calling with LRH sponsor Tim Titus of No Off Season. I had a great time on the high desert once again.

I think we pulled in 12-14 coyotes (I lost track) I got these 2 on the last day. I had a bit of a hole in my swing early on, but found it on day 3.

Actually it was more likely divine intervention lining one up one in the crosshairs so well I didn't have to move rifle or sticks.

I highly recommend these sessions with Tim, you can really compress learning time and get a feel for what it's supposed to look like. A good opportunity to work out equipment issues in a couple of days instead of several seasons.

Really these hunts should work for anyone, a G rated atmosphere, a pace even those with physical issues like myself can keep up with.

Tim brings enough enthusiasm for all, we hit the ground running and gunning. I pulled up at his house and within 20 minutes we had a coyote coming in. Tim's motto is "No crowds, no limits, no seasons, and no bad days, and he lives up to it.

He also has high volume sage rat shooting, some long range rock chucks (Bob Beck EOL filmed a segment here), and is working out the kinks of CONSISTENT long range coyote opportunity.

With big game opportunities limited, and short seasons this is the chance to get more days afield, and I'll be back.

Yote's shot with a 6mm Remington, 70 grain Blitzking, probably 3300 fps. If I remember the ranges were 75, and 150 yards. Both mature males, one rabbit fed, the other supplementing with the neighbors cats.

That's great! I have only seen a few of Tim's videos but in all of them I have learned something new.
Did you get to see some of the decoy dog work?

We didn't use a decoy dog. I'm not sure what Tim's experience is with them. We did talk a little about his thought that with the increased adrenaline, a coyote might take more to anchor with a dog in the mix.

Without claiming any expertise, I don't see where a dog would have contributed to this hunt. The caller and decoy seemed enough to hold their attention away from us. Maybe Tim will see this and kick in.

Between the Kings Snow Shadow, and Cabela's Wooltimate Outfitter Camo, we weren't seen unless I moved. It took me a bit to find a rhythm compatible with incoming coyotes.

My face cover could have been better, seriously considering paint the next time. It made my glasses fogging worse (My anti-fog failed badly). One thing I had not considered before was the change in cheek weld that happens with scarves, and masks. If I continue to use them I'll need to add them into the practice mix.

Sounds like a lot of fun! If you switch over to 123 gr amaxes, you won't have to worry about anchoring haha!

Have you looked at the quick camo hats? They have slots in the mask so that you can put your glasses outside of the mask. I'm pretty sure that having your glasses on the outside of the mask and your breath being forced down with the way the mask sits would prevent fogging.

Course you could always get some anti fog from rain x or for that matter rub a used dryer sheet over your glasses. I've used both methods on goggles before with good results.

I don't think anchoring with has been an issue with the 6mm Remington and 70 grain Blitzkings. Splat factor is good without being extra ordinary.

I am looking forward to the 123 A-max, but for sheer destruction my .338 RUM with 180 Accubonds at 3500 fps, must be seen to fully appreciate it.:Dgun)

I'll have to look at that cover. I can't completely blame my anti fog stuff failure on a product. It's been stored in the truck freezing and broiling. Needed a bit of mixing when I opened it. Probably should have been tossed, and new stuff obtained.

I'll have to look at that cover.

I have one of their hats in kings desert and another in kings snow. It's nice to be able to just flip the face mask down when you need it.

If you go to this link and look through the pictures you will see between the eye holes ears there's a little red slot that's cut out for your glasses ear pieces to fit through.

Thanks for coming down, Carl! And, thanks for all the kind words. You're a good hunting partner! You make it hard to not have a good time in the field keeping sight of what's really important in life. Ben and I did pick up a new anti-fog product called Scope Dope to test. Ben seems to think it really works. We may pick it up for the store. I also agree on the Quick Camo hats. Game Face Gear really did a great job with the design on this product. We are getting a little short on stock right now but they are also available through our store.
