Equipment setup for calling night and day?

Was wondering if any of you fellows would expound on the types of equipment/brand name that you're using for calling during day and at night with some specifics regarding night calling as to the type of lighting you've found that works good. I've seen some video showing a red type light being used and I'm wondering if a night vision type of scope would be best vs just the standard scope with no light.

Night vision is useless if it's not universal. You, your partner and your dog have to have it....

Don't use a light that's too bright. I use a half million white or a million candela red.

For the most part, night hunting is really good for educating coyotes. My buddies and I kill probably 95% of what we call in the daytime.... Maybe 40% at night.... Except cat and fox... They're easier. The 40% is just because I'm not stupid enough to shoot eyeballs in the dark at 200 yards. That's how accidents happen.

Sometimes we use a lightforce walkabout with a red filter.
I shoot a Krieger barreled 6 WOA during the day with a mark 4 PMR.
And a 17 hornet at night with a Leupold 6x42 German #4 reticle. If I don't have a headshot at night, I don't shoot. Period. Fixed power scopes transmit light better.

During contests I shoot a 243 day/223 night. 75 gr and 35 grain.

One gun man? 22-250 50 gr SOFT POINT Bonded bullet.... 10x scope.
One light? The walkabout!

i dont like the red lens at night. we use the lightforce lights i think its 170 striker plugged into the truck. we run .243 and a 6mm rem with 70 to 75 gr bullets.
my buddy has the the walkabout i like it!

My current daytime equipment:
-FoxPro spitfire
-Primos quiver critter (sometimes)
-Rifle (either scoped 243 bolt or AR w/ EOtech)
-Full camo with mask and gloves

Night gear:
Same setup except I pack a 12ga or the AR if its a full moon with snow.


I'm in an area where artificial light for hunting is illegal. My night hunting has not been as successful as I would like and I want to give it a go with a green or red spotlight but I can't afford any problems with F&G. So once I get some money pulled together I'll get my hands on some NV equipment. I'm interested to see other guy's night setups.

I hunt on moon lit nights, I love my Burris 4-16 with the electro dot on my model 70 223. The hardest part is yardage in big open farm fields at night, bring a range finder for sure. Watch out for great horned owls at night they almost took my stocking hat off a few times.

I live in upstate ny farthest shot on a good day 150 yds I'm hunting over bait I've tryed calls all I get are bobcats " can't shoot where I hunt " hawks owels rabbits ... So for the last 3 I've been trying like crazy to get a yote I get them on camra they come to bait but when the cats show up " group of 4 " yotes go a way any help would be grate all I wanna do is shoot one or maybe 2 or 3 ... Thier very quiet around here only howl on full moon or Thier abouse ...

I just did a series of "What's working for me" on my FB page. Most of my hunting is daytime so there's not much night hunting info there. The day calling stuff might be of help. I just use a Pelican two AA scan light and a Cree rechargeable for a kill light.

Ok so back at it again but all I got was bobcats again 3 came in but no yotes.. I called Monday am but nothing got them on camra at 10pm but they haven't been back yet .. Dunno if Thier the only 2 in the county or what but all I get is bob cats are they smarter than yotes or dumber

Dumber but much more valuable. Don't get me wrong, they are very perceptive to movement but they aren't otherwise the sharpest Crayons in the box.
