Need a smith for my Remington 700 ml ( it need a new barrel)

Question: since you will make this a "firearm" according to the ATF and it is currently not a firearm in its front stuffer condition will you need a smith with a manufactures license?

Look up dougs message board. Lots of guys done smokeless conversions on there. Been looking into doing one myself. Several guys on there can build one for you.

If you can twist a barrel into an action then you can build one yourself.
ASG, LLC is your one stop shop for anything you need to build your 700 ML.
I've built several of them now and Luke can help you with everything.
If you want your .458 700 ML to shoot like a laser 24/7, buy the .458 310 grain APB that Luke sells.
Good Luck.

Thanks he emailed me we are working it out

OK so I found a riflesmith for my rem 700 MZ build. I sent the rifle to Luke at Arrowhead sporting goods. He installed a 25" Pac-nor, fluted, sendero taper in 45. cal for me. Converted my bolt to the same style used in the Savage ML and installed a Savage breech plug. I went ahead and upgraded my vent liner to the tungsten model he offered, despite the 100$ price tag its one less thing I have to mess with. The turnaround was very fast less than 1 month and the workmanship is top notch. I had to due a serious hack job on the factory ADL stock to make the barrel fit and I must say it turned out pretty well. I have a McMillan I got from 308NATE that I just haven't got around to having the milling done on yet.
I took the rifle to the range with some basic load data from doug's message boards and it turned out great. One very nice hole at 100m on the first try. 63g H4198, winchester 209 primers, and a 200g 40, cal SST wrapped in a blue harvester sabot.

So here is my first group with the rifle

Here is my deer, shot was 156M off hand from a tree stand. The SST was devastating, I clipped of the top of the heart, deer ran about 25 meters. This is my first real deer worth of mounting in 20 years of deer hunting. I usually shoot does
