I have almost everything but the barrel for my 308 build. Which as of right now I plan on putting a 26" tube on. I wanted 5r but not all of the brands offer 5r. I have a CBI 280 and its great but fouls quite a bit, regardless it shoots just under 0.25ctc so far.

Whats your opinion and experience w/ the above brands?

Benchmark not only has prefit savage barrels but benchmarks shoot awesome! Call chris and he will hook you up!

Benchmark and brux have a good reputation so does cbi but I was hoping to hear about lothar and walther. Also they(LW) have about 6wk wait compared to 12-14

They are all custom bbls, you will be fine with any of them.

You wouldn't know the difference between any custom bbl you bought.

As long as they are hand lapped.

The biggest thing is build what you want the first time, some of the guys we do builds for end up building again just because the first rifle didn't have a feature they wanted or was ballisticly wrong for their use. ie 308 win out to 1200yds.

Agreed, in this sport it pays to cry once. B/c I've found myself crying several times over.

I ended up going w/ the CBI 28" fluted. I want the option of shooting 1k and after the performance of my 280 I cannot deny the capability of these tubes. Hopefully I can post up some brag pictures.

Yeah Ive learned the hard way many times over. Its like being married, you only wanna do it once :)
But building rifles is way more fun!
