I am just getting in all the components and dies to reload for my brother's 30.06. Got a Redding FL S bushing sizing die, and the standard Redding seating die for 30.06 (NOT the Micrometer Competition seating die).
Here's my issue, in seating Berger 168 grain Classic Hunter bullets, my seating stem is bottomed out, my die is as low as it can be set without squashing my case & I am not anywhere near my desired seating depth, my intended depth is to seat the boat tail/bearing surface junction at the neck shoulder junction of the case.
The boattail/bearing surface junction is not much more than half way down the neck.
Would I be able to use the seating stem from my Redding 7mm seating die in the 30.06 die so that the seating plug would hit a littlie higher on the bullet and allow me to seat it deeper?
I've seen a few other posts on different calibers with this same problem.
Ideas?
