ok, for the last year or two I've been steering folks away from Zeiss for long range work due to small turret travel & dials that didn't inspire confidence (hunting turrets at least).

After yesterday, i have to take it all back. We managed to get moa or better hits with the Tikka 300 WSM at 675, and near moa hits out to just shy of 1300 yards by using the reticle on various powers. Granted, 1125 yards on 3 power requires some good eyes, but as sharp as the conquest glass is, i could easily see the target rock & was able to put lead on it repeatedly.

here's a crappy cell phone/spotting scope pic of our victim

see that little tiny brown chunk of scrub in the middle of the frame just above the big horizontal crack? We estimated it at ~20". I managed a slight left first round miss, and a hit on the second shot using the bottom hash at 3x. Good stuff!

I've had nothing but great experiences with Zeiss scopes since I bought my first in 2008. Bought another one around this time last year, and am saving for a 3rd.

Never had any issues and the glass has always been crystal clear.

The upside down smiling rock. I think I know it.:)

From the small brown moss about 2:00 on his upper lip, go up and left about 10:00. That use to be a white spot on the rock that now is more of a crater. Darn big rifles.:D

Wish I could have made it out with you two yesterday, but I need to get a few things done so I can hunt from Saturday until the end of Dec. And then go wolf hunting till spring bear season.

The Zeiss are clear, that's a for sure. But the limited elevation travel in the conquest line keeps me away. A while back I had one in here with Target turrets. .25 moa scope. I went to dial 9.75 moa. Guess what... Not there???? The turret had 3 lines between every number except 9 and 10. In that position there was only 2 lines and no room for another??? What the heck was up with that?

My conquest's reticle is a bit heavy, got a good deal on it, and it hasn't hampered me a bit.

If my POA is covered by the reticle, no animal or gong i shoot @ is that small, I simply tuck the little sucker nicely into upper right corner of the reticle intersection. If the target is big enough to fit under the reticle intersection I simply cover it up. (That'll raise Jeff's eye brow a bit. :D)

The spotter calls the shot and/or the video says the POA and POI are correct, usually.:)

Also my old FFP Weaver 4.5-14 is good to way out there on 4.5x

Ya gotta love good glass.

I ditched 9 Leupold scopes, which never impressed me, in one day to make room for all new Zeiss scopes, NF, and Leica.

I have more Zeiss than anything and they are excellent and track perfectly so far.

Is that the same rock I am thinking of Jeff?

Love those long range shots.

I am not sure if we shot there or not Mark, I have too many shooting spots. But I am pretty sure your 338 Lapua has sent more than one to that rock.

I don't know, Jeff- the conditions were about perfect, you would have burned alot of powder ;)

Yes, I know. I was outside working and knew what I was missing. Well it sounds like you guys had a great time. MontanaMarine is a great shooting partner. Maybe I will make it next time.

I have a Ziess HD5 5-25x50 mounted with TPS rings on a Farrell 20 MOA base on a Accumark 338-378. I can dial to 1,760 yards, regular duplex reticle. The tracking is top notch, glass is great, what's not to like?
