I like a near-max load of Varget behind a 50 gr Sierra blitzking. I seat 10 thou off the lands, Cooper M54 Varminter with 1:14 twist. It's been a good load for me, YMMV

36gr. of IMR4064 and a 55gr bullet is a great load. I use both Speer SPs and Hornady V-Max w/ equal accuracy, .5MOA.

Sierra #1365 bullet (55 grains) seated about .004" off the lands. 35.5 grains of IMR 3031 powder ( near max) with a Federal primer. I got quarter inch and less five shot groups out of three Savages.

H414 is great, but wouldn't group well in my three 22-250's. Others probably had better luck that I did. AA2460 (forget the Hornaday manual exists) is another great powder to try. Speer says 36.0 grains is max, and AA says 35.0 grains with a 55 grain bullet.

A lot of your bullet selection will depend on the barrel twist. Remingtons usually have a 1:14, and have trouble with B/C's above .25 (although I've shot many .25 B/C bullets with good results out of them). Savage does the 1:12 twist, and will take a B/C out to about .28 or .29. They also offer a 1:9 twist, but have never messed around with a fast twist 22-250.

The load I am currently using in my 36gr of big game and 60gr vmax this load shoots .5moa or better. trying to get my hands on some 70gr bergers because I have a cbi 1-9 twist barrel on my savage.

I agree. I use 55 grain Sierra 1365s and it is the most accurate load that I have ever shot. I shot a 7/16-inch three-shot group at 200 yards with it out of a heavy Model 700.

I've shot that load thru three Savages, and the worst one shot .31" five shot groups at 100 yards rather consistently. The two single shot guns shot (or shoot) mid twos, and one would dip into the high ones every now and then. That rifle was stolen from me many years ago, and was one of the original 112BVS-S that had the blued receiver and the stainless steel barrel. I kind of think that a factory barrel shooting low three's at 100 yards is top of the line, and when you see three of them (only three Savage bolt guns I've owned) plus some other brand names shooting similar groups. This is the 1:12 twist load for the 22-250!

I have to agree, Gary. I have to laugh at people that think they have to have custom rifles for extreme accuracy. I have never had any problem getting sub-minute or even sub-half-minute from factory rifles. Savage will always be my pic for out-of-box accuracy. I have never seen one that will not shoot.

I think it's a joke; if you really want to know the truth. I use Hogdons a lot (two different ones), and the AA manual because they are not afraid to post chamber pressures (Hogdon does post some as well). I've always found the Hogdon and AA manuals to be very realistic in values. Speer's not bad as well for velocity, but think their B/C's are a bit optimistic (like a couple other vaunted brands folks like to love). Sierra seems to be the most accurate in calling out their B/C's, but think their load data is flat silly

I'm shooting decent groups with 36.5 gr of Varget behind 50 gr V Maxes. I do have the latest Hornady manual as well as Speer, Nosler, and Sierra manuals. I'll have to check out an AA manual. I apprexiate the advice on here fellas.

according to the guys that used to be on Bench Rest Central, the 1365 bullet calculates to be near perfect for a twelve twist barrel using an 85% factor number. My numbers came out closer to 80%. Five percent won't make much of a difference. Doesn't seem too selective about powder types. I do think it shoots best in a short throat, but can't prove it

I'm wanting to try the 53 and 60 grain V Max bullets. The 60 grain bullet has a .265 B/C, and should shoot well. Been trying the 60 grain HP in different loads, but so far the best I can get is about .60" five shot groups. I think it's time for some powder changes and maybe a different primer and seating depth. I want to see .40" groups
