I'm considering getting a ptg bolt for a new target rifle build on a remington donor action. Which extractor would y'all recommend? It's a 308 f/tr build. What about the firing pin, regular or .062?

Standard pin size and I would go std weight too.

M-16 extractor.

What do you mean by standard weight broz? Will a standard pin work with palma brass?

Stay away from the light pin assemblies. I have had two that would cause misfires with dented primers. Installing the stock weight pin and spring fixed both issues.

Sorry I am not familiar with palma brass so you might want to seek someone in the know there.

The Palma brass has the Small rifle primer pockets. I 100% agree about the standard firing pin and the M16 Extractor.
especially when using the magnum primers. Using the small rifle primers you might get away with the speed lock firing pins.

Unless your rifle has a very slow lock time try the standard weight firing pin.

Just my opinion.

The best extractor for the standard face PTG or Rem. bolt is the Mini 16. I designed that to be the width of the Sako extractor with the cross pin strength of the M-16. Our .062 bolts now have a full length .062 pin race way like the Stiller and Bat bolts. We discontinued the old style Aluminum pin We made for Gre-Tan and others, it had a design that could not be dry fired . The new design is constructed like the Tubb design that comes in the Superior Shooting bolts that we Make for David . We make four pin types now for Remington bolts , Solid steel , Fluted steel , Lite 7075-T6 with steel tip and our new Titanium fluted with stainless tip . All guaranteed to work flawlessly . All our bolts and pins have been tested by H.P. White Laboratories . Oh and by the way they tested Remington bolts . One with a Mini 16 extractor , one with a Sako extractor and the standard Rem. extractor . The Rem. and Mini held up past 175,000 Cup and the action and bolt fused and locked up with the extractors still intact . The Rem. bolt with the sako only made it to 120,000 first and 135,000 on the second try before they blew out with no case to bolt fusion . The Sako extractors where installed by two different shops and appeared to be spot on. That's why I designed the mini 16 extractors , after that test the Sakos worried me . We still make them on demand but we try to steer folks toward the Mini and max M16 type and our standard Remington Three Rings of Safety type . We make all types of bolts now so if any one has a idea on a bolt , please let me know. Thanks Dave
