Looking for recommendations

I will be buying a few rifles and wanted to know what everyone thoughts as to what they would pick.

Rifles in 270 win

Rifles in 3006 win

Rifles in 338 win mag

Rifles in 450 or 45-70

Nothing wrong with those choices. I would start with a few more parameters to narrow the field. Price for starters, if I remember you're in some wet country, stainless, synthetic stock, and positive extraction could be handy. Depending on your hunting style barrel length, and overall weight are factors. I like Model 70's, and I'm willing to modify the things that I'm not crazy about to better suit my needs. So a decision needs to be made if you are willing to run stock, or add the expense of changing parts you don't care for. Good Luck!

Price is not a huge factor since i keep getting deployed. wet conditions so synthetic stocks or even Laminated wood stocks and stainless or weather treated parts.

+1 on the Model 70. IMO, the current production Model 70's are the finest production rifles being made. I have seen some bad reports regarding current production stainless models, though. I am not sure if that represents a trend or not. My walnut/blued Model 70 is an excellent rifle. I would happily buy another. If weather resistance is needed, one could buy the blued "Shadow" model and have the metal coated.

Another good option is the CZ550. It should be available in 30-06 or .270 without a problem. .338 might be harder to find. Expect to re-stock and have the metal coated if you need weather resistance.

The current Zastava made Mark X mauser would also fit the bill. These can be had with a synthetic stock in standard and magnum chamberings. I haven't seen one in .338WM. I recently bought one in .300WM and I have also seen them in 7mm RM. If you have to have a .338WM, you could re-barrel and still not have more in it than it would cost you to buy a Model 70 or CZ.

Great caliber choices. I would suggest the 45-70 in a lever action using FTX bullets. You can get them in stainless. Everybody needs to own at least one lever gun. Then you can't beat the old 06' and the 270. I will put my vote in for the Savage Weather Warrior series. I believe they are the 116 models. Definitely look for the Accutrigger.

In 45-70, there is really only one answer IMO. Marlin 1895G Guide Gun. Shop for an early production model with the ported barrel. Avoid newer production rifles made after Cerberus Capital bought Marlin. I'm not sure the stainless models are available ported. Like the other rifles, you can coat the metal and either seal the factory wood stocks or purchase aftermarket stocks (I have never really looked to see what is available for the Marlin. I was always happy with the factory stocks for my purposes.).

The FTX bullets can help you reach out there a bit. However, the real strength of the cartridge is close range punch. For that, load hard cast 405g lead bullets or even 405g Remington Corelokt bullets. Load them hot (up to max Marlin level loads) and you can shoot end to end through anything that walks in North America.

Remington 700 rifles for .270, .30-06, and .338 WM. Also, is there a partucular reason you want a .270 & an '06? You could just go with a .280 Ackley Improved and close the gap and eliminate both of those calibers. And maybe get a .308 Win or 6.5x284 Norma short-action caliber. Or a .257 Wby Mag.

Also, throwing a big 7, like the 7mm STW, in the mix wouldn't be a bad idea, either...To add to the diversity.

Also, after owning a .338 WM, I would go with the .338 RUM or .338 Lapua Improved over the WinMag. They seem to be more accurate calbers, when compared to the WinMag.

Remington 700 as well as the m70 rifles are what i am looking at. I am also looking at savage, weatherby and ruger rifles. I use a 243 handi rifle and a ruger #1in 300wm right now but need to get a few anti rain rifles for the pacific northwest hunting. I reload an 85 grain barnes tsx for my 243 as well as 180 grain ttsx for my 300 wm. I also loaded up a few 220 grain round nose for my 300wm for bear hunting. I am wanting a flat shooting rifle with knock down power for sierra hunting and a big gun for elk and beer since i will be hunting beer and elk and moose if im lucky enough to draw. i am interested in teh marlin 450,444, and 45-70 as well as maybe even the 450 bushmaster or 50 beowulf. I have been looking at the Remington R25 in 243 and 7mm08 for mule deer hunting although im not sure i will be hitting the woods with an msr. 270 and 3006 are common rounds and the 270 is known for flat shooting as well. I have also heard good things about the 270wsm. I have a 308 m1a but not going to hunt with that so i have been looking at the ruger gunsite scout for a 308 brushgun or the remington vtr in 308 as well as the ruger guide gun. The ruger american rifle has good reviews and it comes in 270,7mm08,3006 and 308.

The T/C venture, encore pro shooting systems seem like great shooting rifles.

That is good to know about the 338wm and will check ou the 338 rum and lapua.

As you can see i have a long list and will need a bigger safe. Reloading for all of these helps out as well.

Anyone use savage rifle, savage M110, ruger, weatherby vanguard deer skulls rifle, nosler rifles, browning rifles or have experience with them?

what about muzzleloaders, T/C bone collector or pro hunter?

I have several Savages and they are good rifles. I like them b/c I get bored easily and like to swap out barrels and try new calibers. With the Savage I buy one stock, bed it to the action and then can pick any barrel that week to shoot and nothing changes as far as feel and setup.

That being said, if you just want guns that go from the box to the woods and back to the safe, I'd pick a M70 or a Tikka (Maybe a Savage again). I've had a few Remingtons and they were fine but nothing spectacular.. if you are going to build up down the line though, either the M70 or 700 actions are nice.

No way, stick to the common, & proven cartridges. Not only are they easier to find components for in this day, & age, but you can always fall back on factory ammo in a pinch.

Nope, 300 Win Mag cause you can run anything from 55grain accelerators to 230gr burgers, & Everything inbetween. Largest selection of bullets period is 30 cal. More versatile.

100% agreed, gotta love a stainless guide gun in a 45-70! And the 45-110 is cool too. Now, throw in the 50-140 just for giggles, in the Sharps category.

These are just simply my opinions.

OP, you have made some wise choices in your cartridge selection thus far, & they will compliment your current stable.
I'm a Model-70 freak so Winny gets my vote, followed closely by Rem 700, & Wby.

Accurate alone wasn't the correct wording, as I should have said MINE isn't accurate at all, except for 1 single cold-bore shot. I have no need for a .338 caliber, but if I were to ever get another one it would be a .338 RUM, Lapua Improved, Edge, or Excalibur.
